About this item

  • 100% Carbon Felt
  • 【High Temp & Fire Resistance】The Matace Welding Blanket, certified to ASTM D6413 and UL94-V0, withstands temperatures up to 3000°F. Compared to fiberglass, leather, silicone, and Kevlar, this blanket ensures safe welding, protecting against sparks and extreme heat.
  • 【Enhanced Durability】 Crafted from 1/5 inch (5mm) thick carbon felt cloth, our welding mat is softer and more resilient than 3mm alternatives, offering extended protection time and superior insulation even under ultra-high temperatures.
  • 【Professional Protection】 Our flame retardant pad is ideal for welding, soldering, HVAC, and plumbing maintenance, effectively shielding your workspace from sparks and slag.
  • 【Versatile Applications】 Beyond welding, our blanket doubles as a BBQ grill cover to retain heat, can be DIYed into a stove wick, or serve as a cost-effective alternative to expensive smoker blankets. Most importantly, it provides additional escape opportunities for your family and pets during a fire emergency.
  • 【Portability & Versatility】 These blankets come in lightweight, foldable packages, making them easy to transport and store. They can be easily cut to fit various DIY projects, enhancing their practicality in multiple flame-resistant environments.

  • It can withstand up to 3000°F. However, acetylene/propane torch flames can reach 6000°F/4500°F. This fireproof blanket suitable for shielding against welding spatter and debris, and flames below 1800°F.

  • Carbon Felt is superior. Please excuse our directness, but you'll agree when you see how easily fiberglass and coated materials can burn through, while fiberglass shards cause severe skin irritation.

  • Yes, Carbon Felt is fireproof and absorbent. DIY enthusiasts often cut it into strips for alcohol stove wicks and camping torches. Compared to cotton wicks, Carbon Felt wicks seem to have a flame that "never burns out."

  • Yes, our pre-oxidized Carbon Felt removes most organics, allowing it to withstand corrosive agents like sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and sodium hydroxide. It also has no expiration limitations.

  • Yes, Carbon Felt effectively insulates and protects pipes due to its hollow structure. Its high-temperature and corrosion resistance provide excellent stability and durability, making it superior to foam materials.

With all the technology out there, you will just have to use the torch, sometimes. That makes safety and protection paramount, this mat is made for the trade, it's softness makes it malleable, but don't let that fool you. It's design makes it tough, and it's weight versus thickness is just right. This is a value for money purchase that when used right will save you thousands!

Works perfectly as a temporary, hanging heat shield for the wall behind my stove pipe on morning burn-offs. Once the burn is done, I just unhook it from it's hanger on the wall and let it sit on the ground behind the stove. Works perfectly for me.

A virgin never burned wick works great, but after use and the fire going out, it gets very crunchy and does not burn very well on a second round. Short wicks that float on the surface seem to wick better than a configuration where the distance between the oil surface and the wick increases as the oil level burns down. You get a lot for your money but I feel there must be better grades that perform better as a "forever" wick.

Used this product as a wick for a smoke generator. Because it does not burn, I was able to place up against the heater element. Worked like a charm and made lots of smoke.

they worked while I was soldering in tight spaces--however they do create a foul smell and glow as if they will light afire.
