The Manfrotto 013 is one of many adapters I keep in my studio to help make diverse pieces of gear work together. Sometimes I need to attach a video light to a Manfrotto 175 Spring Clamp: simply slide the 013 into the 5/8" socket, tighten the t-screw and you're in business. The 013 also has 1/4" and 3/8" screws for adding a cold shoe, Arca clamp or small ball head. The brass is top quality but, after all, is relatively soft metal and thus prone to dings and scratches from t-screws. After a few years of use, mine is rustic dark brown and scarred but still works as good as new.All in all a handy and well made adapter. I probably should buy another one...

It works. Others sell cheaper ones made from a weird alloy and they break. I've had goo luck with these.

It works exactly as you would expect. I needed a couple of these adaptors and got them quickly and inexpensively.

So much better than buying cheaper soft tat from China, this is very well made, robust and will survive much long than cheaper spigots.

Not a piece of mystery metal. Buy this if you even think youwill need it and you will not be disappointed. This is a solid chunk of brass with machining marks still visible.Given ordinary (and extra-ordinary!) on-set use and stresses, this will not fail. What more could you ask from any tool?

Does what it is supposed to do. Solid, sturdy. Good addition to the gear bag when you need something like this. One solid piece, which is an advantage to coupling two separate studs together (which will loosen and unscrew from each other).

I've recently bought some product that included similar double ended studs like the Manfrotto and ended up using chasers on then because the threads were unusable. I would rather spend a couple of extra dollars and have the product work correctly and after all how difficult can it be to use the correct dies or use ones that aren't worn out. Will try to avoid Chinese knock offs as much as possible.

Really, without this stud (or spigot as some call it) many light stands would be useless, as most studio lights are designed to attach to this type of connection. The low spots ensure a safe connection, as lights will not fall off even if they loosen with time, vibration, heat expansion, cooling, etc.If your stands or booms use this type of connection, purchase an extra and tape (or cable tie-even better as it is stronger and neater) it to something you always have available. You will lose one someplace and without one, you may not be able to set up the lighting you want. One solid, machined piece of brass, with 1/4" and 3/8" screw connections that allow you to attach other things, even cameras, to stands.

It's cheap. It's good. It's durable. It works perfectly. What more can you ask for in a Manfrotto product? I like how I no longer have to carry 2 different studs for the same purpose. Very useful when travelling light. The lack of the hexagonal part also means that it's easy to rotate your camera to the angle you desire.
