Over the years I have purchased many types of microbiology products and all too often have been blindsided by contamination that was 'guaranteed' not to be there. These agar dishes came exactly as described. I have learned to let my 'contaminant free' products sit long enough to prove that they are not contaminated, or to start growing a little surprise, and have had 100% consistency with this brand!

This was a very good way to show my kids bacteria and how washing your hands longer prevents bacteria spread well worth my money.

I have bought these a few times and have had pretty good results overall. Only had bacterial contam on a couple but that was after me using so could have been particles in the air.

The dishes came in a ziplock bag and wrapped in bubble wrap. All clean (no contam) and no damage. The MEA had excellent performance as the mycelium colonized quickly. The only thing I noticed was a few plates didn't have much agar although it didn't seam to bother anything. The plastic on the dishes are thin but sturdy. No issues with shipping or micropore tape. Nice size of 90mmX15mm. I am satisfied with my purchase.

1 star for quality agar, 1 star for zero contamination, and 1 star for package arriving fast+undamaged. Minus 1 star for getting only 9 plates, and minus 1 star for the plates being so cheap, thin, and flimsy for the price. Immediately after an extremely delicate agar to agar transfer to clean/save an irreplaceable living culture, the plate shatters in my hand while taping the top to the bottom just around the edge.A unrelated note to other reviewers: If the plates are clean when they arrive then it is NOT the seller's fault. Those plates are stored and shipped in warm conditions. If they weren't sterilized properly, they would be contaminated long before they arrive. Nothing can survive the intense gamma radiation used in bulk sterilization.

These are NOT sterile and NOT individually sealed. All 10 come in what appears to be a vacuum sealed package. If you knock anything loose at all in the process of moving them from the box/checking them, contam WILL get in. I didn’t know they weren’t individually sealed, and noticed some loose lids when I removed from the delivery box. All plates looked clean at that time, and I did not open plastic packaging. Came back 6 days later to the mess in the picture when I opened the package. If I could give 0 stars I would. Don’t waste your money if you’re trying to grow mushrooms when sterile matters.

All ten plates were totally clean upon arrival. When ordering sterile products that require delivering, I always expect to take a loss on 1 (or 2). That's the name of the game; but these all arrived perfect. And for anyone who complains about them having loose tops, well, that is how most culture dishes are made. Even high quality borosilicate glass does not "snap" or "lock" closed. That's what parafilm is for. Get a roll of that when ordering plates. The medium recipe is also great for mycelium (mushroom cells) and mine propagated healthy and beautiful on this product. My only suggestion to the manufacturer might be to see them arrive with parafilm on them to ensure sterile shipping, but either way, I'm impressed. I'm ordering more as soon as I'm done with the review.
