We are pleased to offer this beautiful full-sized reproduction of the British Admiral's micrometer drum brass sextant. These Sextants are not an antique but we can replicated as same as originals. It is the premium quality Admiral's nautical sextant. A great work by Indian artisans. These Sextants are fully functional and made out of brass & polished with antique finish. These Sextants are a reflecting navigation instrument used to measure the angle between any two visible objects. A Sextant can also be used to measure the lunar distance between the moon & another celestial object. There are six swing-arm filters mounted on heavy filter mounts. The bottom of the index arm can be squeezed to pull the micrometer pinion away from the ground rack, allowing fast, large angular movements of the index arm. In order to minimize reflections, the solid brass sextant has a black finish. The mirrors are correctly adjusted prior to being shipped, and future adjustments can be made using the adjustment screws on the index and horizon mirrors. There is a large hardwood handle on the back of the sextant. This sextant's measures 8.5" X 8.5" X 4.5" and is 1.250 KG in Weight With Black Powder Coated.

Sextant Instrument | Sextant nautique en laiton Très léger, mais ingénieux.Réglage collimation facilité du grand miroir avec sa grande vis à ressort.Déplacer et bloquer l'alidade est super aisé grace au système à ressort comprimé et la vis sans fin fineet précise. L'ensemble respire la précision. J'ai remplacé la vis de rotation par un rivet"pop".Seul bémol: filtres solaires à dimensions un peu trop réduites, ce qui est dommage car ces filtres sonttout de même des pièces de sécurité pour la rétine. J'ai remplacé les filtres par d'autres plus grands etajouté un morceau de vitre de soudeur ind.14 pour le soleil.J'étudie un filtre solaire en bout de lunette découpé dans un film solaire sur support rabattableafin de réduire le risque de cécité. C'est le meilleur sextant qualité/prix/légèreté que j'ai vu.Il ne faut pas grand chose pour en faire un très bon sextant car sa technologie de base est idéale etsa légèreté est un atout.

One arrived broken. The worm gear on the micrometer appears to be cross-thread. I returned the first for a replacement and the replacement had the same problem. This appears to be a systemic manufacturing error. If you are looking for an usable sextant, I suggest looking elsewhere. If you want a cool decoration...

Product is as advertised. Nice looking and perfect for display. Personally, hung on wall with other nautical items.Claim is this is actually a working sextant. Wouldn’t know by me. Does not come with instructions. Buy the book separately if you actually want to try to use it.ADDENDUM: This sextant is indeed a working instrument. If unfamiliar with sextant operation, can recommend "Celestial Navigation" 2nd Ed. by David Burch. Cannot say if this sextant is truly accurate enough for real open sea navigation as metal nautical sextants run in the $800 range. Still, this sextant along with instruction book gives a fun look at sextant operation. More interested in actually fixing point, would need at least "Long Term Almanac 2001-2050" for Sun & Selected Stars, 2nd ed, with Concise Sight Reduction Tables by Geoffrey Kolbe.

This is actually not a toy or replica, rather a fully functioning sextant. Not sure as to the accuracy of this FULL SIZE (slightly lager than claimed) navigation tool though believe you could navigate the world's seas with it. Beautiful instrument. Have purchased a ladies acrylic shoe box to display it on on my coffee table. Wow, wow, wow!

Le Sextant est correct, mais il y a 27,50€ de frais de douane à payer en plus lors de la livraison, ce qui n'est préciser à aucun moment.
