This is a pretty gritty pastel surface, slightly less gritty than the Sennelier pastel card and slightly more gritty than the Art Spectrum Colourfix paper. So if you're familiar with those surfaces, you'll have a decent idea of how this performs. I tried doing an underpainting with Pan Pastel but it was chewing up my sponges too much that I gave up about half way through. I ended up just doing lots of layers of mostly unblended pastel, it does hold lots of layers which is very nice! The attached photo is my first attempt using this surface.
