You can see the development of the chick's inside. First year using it. We hope it stands up to time.

Extremely easy to use. Worked good even in a well lit room. Best candlelight I've used. Was amazing to watch baby chicks in eggs moving at 12 days incubation. Great price well worth what you spend. I spent $70 on a different model but could only do 10 of 55 eggs before incubator cooled. This one I got all 55 done with time to spare for rearranging eggs that are behind in developement

I bought this to replace a candler that burnt out. This is electric not battery operated. It works well with dark colored eggs and also with multiple sizes. The light is nice and bright so that you can determine exactly what stage development the egg is at. The reason for the 4 stars is that the rubber ring that attaches to the light could be a bit wider. It works better on smaller eggs (chicken, wild duck, guinea). I’m not sure how it would work on larger goose or turkey eggs.

Good candling light, doesn't get too hot. Though it can be hard to see early development on my darkest marans/olive eggs, it's bright enough that I can usually tell by day 14.

Works great for candling eggs. doesn’t work with batteries…. which is why I chose this model. So I could use it in the coop without finding a plug 😐

I purchased this item to candle chicken eggs. It works great and the eggs can be quickly candled while in the turner, with no need to lift and hold each egg (eliminating chance of damaging delicate veins). Candling 30 eggs using this light takes me about a minute and I’m still a novice. I liked this candler enough to purchase a second one for gift giving. The only negative is the length of the power cord. I wish it were about 2-4 ft longer. It's about 6 ft, which sounds long enough, but is a little short for my incubator/table setup. I use a lightweight extension cord to extend the reach.

We hatch a combined total of around 1500 fowl a year. Chickens, turkeys, guinea fowl, ducks, quail, and emu. No, it won't shine through an emu shell. I'm pretty sure they're light-impervious. BUT--It does a fantastic job on all other eggs. The rubber cup provides a tight seal to the egg making sure all light goes through. We do have some very dark maran eggs that can be difficult to see through, but if it's dark AT ALL it's still pretty simple to determine development. For lighter eggs you can see cleanly through and see the heart beating usually. The best trick for this candler is to NOT TOUCH YOUR EGGS. Let me explain:Whether you have a cheaper styrofoam incubator or a NurtureRight or a GQF or a HatchingTime, don't individually touch your eggs, you're just going slow and introducing bacteria. Just get overhead access to your eggs, however they are. GQF or HatchingTime just pull the tray and set it on something flat. Styrofoam or NurtureRight just take off the lid. With the lights as dim as you can make them, just hold the candler light facing DOWN, and touch it to each of your eggs hard enough to seal it. You'll know in less than 2 seconds if it's developing, if it's a quitter, or if it never started.Never starts will glow almost like lightbulbs. Quitters will show the red ring of death. Developing eggs will show vasculature or in the case of super dark eggs you'll see through the air sack and then not see anything else---that's a growing egg.Just touch, look, and move to the next. It takes me about 45 seconds to do a full tray of 30 eggs in my HatchingTime, about 2 minutes to do 150 quail eggs in a hovabator. Can't recommend it enough!

Purchased this after struggling one incubation period with a flash light.I knew the power on this unit is coming out the bottom so it would not stand upright on its own.... I just made a quick and easy stand for this candler out of its packing box as I don't like to twist and turn the eggs during incubation and rather have them sit as upright as possible.Cut some holes out for on/off button, the cord and mark the base of the candler on top of the box without the rubber grommets on to get a snug fit once you push the candler through from the inside of the box and then set the grommets. Works perfectly! -And when you store your candler away, you just tuck everything right back into the box including the wall plug.Works great on brown eggs as you can see, and that is with the room light on!Unsure what people are talking about in these comments about this candler not being bright. No issues yet, only regret is that I should have purchased this sooner!
