I bought these stainless steel machine screws because they are in the standard sizes commonly found in electrical switch and outlet boxes. Sometimes you just need a longer screw or you lose one and need a spare.

Assortments like this are usually not the greatest quality. I hate the term “homeowner” grade because as a homeowner, my standards are more “professional” grade. This assortment is nice quality stainless.

These screws have North American UNC threads, as shown on the photos of the box, NOT metric ISO M3.5 and M4.2 threads as stated repeatedly in the item description. They are commonly used in the USA and Canada but have limited uses in the UK and if you use them to fix light switches or electrical outlets to backboxes they will re-cut the thread which will lead to problems later. The standard backbox thread in the UK is M3.5. If you have an older installation that pre-dates metrication then look for 4BA screws instead. They all look pretty similar but they are subtly different and incompatible. They will not screw into an M3.5 nut.UPDATE: The seller contacted me as a result of this review and offered me a full refund, which I accepted. This is good customer service. The screws themselves are good quality. They are just not as described. I hope they update the description on this page.

Screws are fine but the packaging has all of the screws stored in too small of a case. Have another container ready and don't expect this one to last

I’ve been replacing my exterior lights and the screws that came with the new lights aren’t the right size for the brackets in my brick. And it doesn’t use the same mount as my prior ones so I can’t use those screws.This gave me the right width and plenty of length options. Great quality, great price, and worked perfectly.

Great selection of screw lengths. These are essential if using the later style ‘screw less’ faceplates. These being used to secure the mains socket to the back box. The sockets/faceplates we purchased had screws too short, so needed this selection. If you try to use alternative ‘Pan Head Screws’, the faceplate wont’ clip on properly, so these ‘Flat Head screws’ are perfect.

Very useful to have to hand whilst changing sockets and switches. The selection of lengths is helpful if the supplied screws don’t always fit as needed, but what is particularly helpful is having M3.5 and M4.2 versions in a set - the M4.2 are ideal if you find the fixing in a metal box has stripped. With a re-threading tool, you are good to go and can save a lot of work replacing the box or using a fixing kit. Quality and sturdiness is very good for the money and choice offered.

These screws are for special needs. Not for daily use. These are used mostly for electrical use. With metric thread Very handy for certain jobs that needs these screws. Save them at homeHandy
