I had used the Timesert kit before but it got damaged while trying to drill cast iron. This had 1 day delivery and for less money, so why not try it. Got it quickly and tried it out right away. If you can remove the part you're repairing, it will make the repair easier. I practiced on a junk part. First time, I went too deep with the bevel. But insert went it pretty straight. Second time, the insert was a little offset so it didn't sit evenly. Third time, I had to do it on the actual part. Drilling hole was easy, when it came time to tap the hole, it was a little offset but I got the insert to sit evenly ( I ended up using red locktite). I was drilling aluminum so it wasn't hard to do. It worked for me and that's all that matter.

Unsurprisingly this tool was a let down, the inserts were fine, however the one tool that actually mattered was the counterbore tool, used after drilling to get a counterbore that the shoulder of the insert will sit into. The profiles between the two are not the same not to mention the large gap between the parent metal and the insert once counterbored. By this stage its too late to do anything. In my application it was for a chainsaw which the "timesert" went into. This needed to be sealed so as any oil does not leak past the insert shoulder or the threads themselves. Im not sure it will seal, also the other issue with the counterbore is that the stops on the tool does not correspond to the depth of the parent metal, which is to say the insert will sit lower than the metal its installed into as the counterbore is set too deep, needing to be vigilant when cutting.So too wide a cut and too deep a cut. Not great

So the counter sinker has a pin in it that broke or came out...After 5 counter sinks.....disappointed

This is the first time I've used a product like this. It was either try this or throw away a boat motor. There is no instruction included but it's simple to figure out. Within a few minutes, I had the hole drilled, tapped, and the insert put in (use red Lock Tite). I repaired the motor without any issues and it's running again. I would buy this product again without hesitation!

Bought this to try and fix a stihl concrete saw, stud had pulled out and threads messed up. Followed instructions and installed insert and reinstalled stud. Worked like a champ and saved customer a good bit of money. Worth buying and using.

I used on an aluminum transmission case for pan bolt thread repair. Did the trick. Great quality tools and value for the money. I prefer these for a more permanent repair over a heli-coil. I would definitely recommend these for repairing threads.

I bought this product before in a m10 size I believe. It work great so I trust the brand for another task....Well that didn't go as planned. The drill bit ended up snapping on me even using oil and the the insert was stuck on the install tool. But I still was able to fix my threads so It wasn't a complete lost.
