I know that sounds like opposites, but they don’t fit. They also are the right size as far as I can tell. I can’t figure it out. 🤨

I plan on using these for my 3d print project. I need to put an M3 machine screw into plastic (PLA). Since I don't have a set of metric taps, and since an M5 screw is close to 10-32 (tight fit), I will tap a 10-32 hole, put some epoxy into the hole, and then screw in the insert. The screw just holds the lid on an 18650 battery holder - so it's not taking any load. Epoxy works great on PLA plastic. The M3 and M5 threads are accurate.

The machining on these inserts is impressively good. Everything is sized within the stated specs. Also, unlike a lot of the other similar inserts available on Amazon, these actually have a way to be driven into a threaded hole. These provide a fast, easy, durable option for repairing a stripped hole.

This is the first time I ever used something like this and as with most hardware pieces there are no instructions.I needed to downsize an 8mm threaded hole so I could use a 6mm bolt in it. That's the only thing that these are for. There are other sizes for other thread size conversions. There's a small slot in each one and on my first try I used that to thread in the insert into the 8mm hole using a screwdriver. But these inserts are rather fragile and after getting 3/4 into the hole the insert broke. I was still able to use my 6mm bolt with only 3/4 of this insert threaded into the 8mm opening but that's not ideal. For my second attempt I threaded the insert onto the 6mm bolt using a little blue threadlocker (red would probably be better). It went on easily. I then threaded the now upsized 6mm bolt into the 8mm hole with no problem. That's the better way to do it I think. The takeaway here is that though made of steel these things are fragile. Though once you get them threaded in they're fine. I'm happy with them and my little project worked out great.

Needed some inserts on a wooden build that was pretty thin. These worked out great.
