I have several unibits in my tools, but nothing that is bigger than 1" so this bit fills that gap by being 1 ⅝". I mostly drill through soft material like would and plastics so I haven't tried it on any serious metal projects. but I believe it would be capable of going through some thin metal. Not sure I would try it on any metal that was thick. Good quality bit.

This step drill fills in the gap created by hole saw kits that tend to skip certain "odd" sizes. I have a few decent hole saw kits but they either are too small or too large for some of the cable glands.the 5/8" and 7/8" sizes fit the medium cable glands perfectly.You are limited to material thickness of 1/8". Good for standard electrical boxes and the plastic NEMA boxes that are becoming popular.This step drill works well and the storage case will keep it clean and safe.Here is how I rate items:5 Stars = Exceeds all expectations, A definite buy! This Large Step Drill Bit has been excellent for drilling bulkhead holes in my rain collection barrels. I’ve got a couple of large water collection systems for my garden, and this drill bit made the process of adding bulkhead fittings quick and easy. This cobalt drill bit worked well for thin metal sheets on my drill press. This drill bit does not work well for any material that is thicker than 1/5" because of the small step gradations. It appears to be very well made and sturdy. It handled 1/4" aluminum without any issues, although it works much better on thinner stock.

It actually worked suprisingly well. I was able to drill and size a hole exactly where I needed it. It didnt take much force to get it to bite and it cut clean. I have a Klein one also and have used the Milwaukee step bits and I have to say I couldnt really tell a difference. Its WAY cheaper than either of those options so my guess is it wont last as long but you can buy 5 of these for the price of one of the others and that goes a long way. They wear out too so if I get even half the life out of this as one of those, I come out the winner.

This review is for OXMUL Large Step Drill Bit for Steel, 1-5/8"(Pro) 13Holes, M35 Cobalt Drill Bits, $40 on amazon.I’ve seen step drills offered on Amazon in the past but their size was smaller than this OZMUL step drill. Given the I have a complete drill bit set that ranges up to ½” it made no sense to purchase a step drill in the same diameter range. But this OZMUL step drill will create holes ranging from ¼” to 1-5/8” diameter.Each ‘land’ is approximately 0.15” high which will limit you to drilling material no greater than 1/8”. So this drill is intended primarily for use on sheet metal or other thin material, like plastic sheet. Ideal for drilling electrical knock-out holes on junction box or breaker box.Each diameter ‘land’ has its diameter clearly printed. Suggest you mark the appropriate diameter with a Bic Wite-Out pen or other white maker so as it is turning you can easily know when the correct target diameter is being drilled. Use Acetone to remove the white ink marking after use.As you would expect, this is a right hand drill (clockwise rotation).Shank is sized for 3/8” (or larger) drill.Arrives in a nice two-piece plastic cylindrical storage case. The shank sits in a foam base so you can stand it up vertically on a work bench instead of laying it down on is working surface.One nice feature of a step drill is that it will produce a very round hole unlike a typical two-flute drill bit that will create a more triangular-shaped hole
