About this item

  • Made of Viton (fluorocarbon elastomer) for use with a variety of chemicals and fuels
  • Durometer (hardness) of 75A
  • Round cross-section provides a seal between cylindrical overlapping surfaces
  • For use across a wide temperature range from -15 degrees F (-26 degrees C) to 450 degrees F (232 degrees C)

This metric O-ring is made of black Viton and has a durometer of 75A, a round cross-section, and can be used across a wide temperature range (-15 degrees F/-26 degrees C to 400 degrees F/205 degrees C). Designed for use in a wide variety of sealing applications.

Viton (fluorocarbon elastomer) has heat, fuel, and chemical resistance and is compatible for use with non-flammable hydraulic fuels, silicone oil, chlorinated hydrocarbons (trichloroethylene), aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene) and aliphatic hydrocarbons (propane). It works well in high vacuum environments and is vulnerable to low molecular organic acids, ammonia gas, alkalis, amines, glycol-based brake fluids, and super-heated steam.

The durometer hardness of this Viton O-ring is 75A. Durometers measure the hardness of a material and its resistance to permanent indentation. A higher durometer value indicates greater resistance to indentation. On a scale of 0 to 100, a value of 0 indicates that a sample was completely penetrated, while a value of 100 shows no indentation in the sample. The letter following the number identifies the shore scale, which is either shore A or D. Shore A is used for rubber while shore D is used for harder plastics.

O-rings provide a pressure and fluid seal between cylindrically shaped, overlapping mating surfaces and are commonly seen in engines, faucets, flanges, valves, and various cylinders. They are circular in shape, with a round cross section, and a hole in the center, similar to a doughnut. O-rings are available in a number of sizes, and can be ordered based on required inside diameter (ID), outside diameter (OD), and cross-sectional (CS) diameter.

This is exactly what I needed for my 1/2- 28 threaded barrel perfect. Just fired 300 rounds and the thread protector stayed put. I just handed tightened and everything was fine.

Used on my Walther PDP to keep the barrel protector cap from loosening during firing.

These work perfect on all of my 9mm threaded barrels to hold the thread protectors on while walking around. Provide just the right amount of pressure to prevent loosing the thread protectors. I haven’t found a manufacturer’s barrel yet that they don’t fit perfect on and I have quite a few factory and aftermarket barrels to say that.

I bought these because my thread protector on the barrel of my Springfield echelon kept coming loose I like the look of the thread protector so I keep it on while I shoot this o ring has kept it tight with plenty of rounds, the pack comes with a good amount for how much you pay, I’m still on the first one, now if you have the Springfield echelon if you’d like to disassemble your gun to take the barrel out of the slide you will have to take the o-ring off or try to force it through risking ripping the rubber o ring as for other handguns for disassembly I’m not sure

Used this to fix a leaking quick disconnect on the gas tank of my 2004 Harley Road King. Fit perfectly and sealed 100%.Buy a cheap set of dental picks and you can remove the old o-ring and install this one. Little tricky, easier with the tank off, but doable with it in the bike. Do yourself a favor and lube the o-ring before installing it, dielectric grease works great. If you don't already know if you pull up on the silver cylinder on the gas tank that will release the fuel line. A few drops of gas will come out, there isn't any reason to purge the tank or attempt to release any pressure. Just make certain the bike is off and remains off, pull the main fuse or disconnect the battery.

As a gunsmith we use a lot of o-rings with our thread protector caps. Work great, good fit, fair priced.
