LED working indicator:
signal indicator, when sensing metal objects the light is on for normally open, the light is off for normally closed.
Difference between normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC):
Normally open (NO) is the usual state of the signal output line is disconnected state, no signal output, when sensed to the object is closed, the output signal.
Normally closed (NC) is the usual state of the signal output line for the closed state, continuous signal output, when the sense of the object is disconnected, close the signal.
Proximity switch definition:
An inductive proximity switch consists of high frequency oscillation, detection, amplification, triggering and output circuits. The oscillator generates an alternating magnetic field on the detecting surface. When there is a metal object close to its detecting surface, the eddy current generated in the metal absorbs the energy of the oscillator, which makes it weaken to stop oscillating. The oscillator oscillation and stop vibration of these two states is converted into an electrical signal through the detection, amplification and trigger output circuit.
Application:
When proximity switch is close to some target object, it will send out control signal.
It is widely used in machine, paper making, light industry for limiting station, orientation taking count, speeding trial ect. It is a component widely used in automatic control industry for detecting, controlling, and noncontact switching

It would be nice if this fact were in the specs, but it's not: I gave this product 4 stars because it seems very well made, is very reasonably priced, and does what it purports to do. You cannot use this as a wind-counter for making coils (like a guitar pickup)(unless you want to do it really slowly) because it cuts out once it exceeds about 200 rpm. In other words, it can't be used to register any event that will occur more than about 200 times / minute.
