I’m a Ludwig guy and have been gigging with Ludwig drums and hardware for 40 years. Even my dog is named Ludwig so I’m a cheerleader for them. However, this is a piece of junk!The clamp, when tightened down, will not stay in the clasp so it won’t hold up to any kind of vibration when you’re hitting cymbals or toms. It slips out and your equipment ends up on the floor. I bought a second one thinking maybe I had a bad clamp or something. Nope. Same problem and I’m stuck with two of these. Stick to the tom stands, these are junk.

I am using a set of these on my Ludwig Centennial kit as an additional accessories mount and used to mount 3 toms before I acquired the Atlas Pro double tom stands with these built on but now I have more mounting options. mount directly existing mounts to add cymbal arms coming out from side or back as desired, I used to just use 2 of these on old kit with 2 toms and using extra post for a cowbell and a cymbal arm.This a great add on for any drum kit but Ludwig owners/fans will like the vintage Ludwig look and use of the keystone in its build including the turn keys. It comes with Ludwig 12.7mm L-arm ball in socket with 90 degree bend which I like better than my previous Ludwig arms as this gives more angles to work with in different positions when trying to get the right tilt and rotation on your toms to match.The only con I can find is that Ludwig uses a particular ball in socket with this and the Atlas Pro tom stand so it doesn't even swap out with other ball joints. I tested with LUDWIG - LAS12B - ATLAS 12.7mm L-ARM Ball Joint part # LAS12B I also wanted to use my 9.5mm or 10.5mm L-arm for use with certain accessories next to each tom but the Atlas ball socket is just a tad too small so I couldn't close the clamp. The included L-arm ball joint did fit my other brand socket clamps but had to tighten down a bit more to get a good grip. This is only a con if you wanna move things around but it does exactly what it needs to do right out of the box. Mine didn't come with memory locks so I guess you use your own or add some if needed. I used initially with the Ludwig Atlas Mounts which came with its own memory locks. See my review on those, they're excellent.Note to vintage Ludwig fans. These do have the 1" bottom cup as in the old style where they fitted to a fixed down tube. You can either weld in a 1" down tube to make it work as if the Pro series mount with stand and in this way you get a better balance of weight and now have the clamp option to mount add on tubes such as cymbal boom arms or other tube mounts directly behind the toms. I used JB Weld to modify 1 set as an extra on a 2nd kit.
