Some Random Guy
Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2024
For the $148+ price and being "made in France" I was expecting a beautifully crafted piece of kitchenware. As soon as I opened the box, my heart sank and jaw dropped- it was covered in grime and looked like someone went at it with steel wool in attempts to pretty it up after it tumbled down a mountain.Even the quality of manufacturing is pathetic. The welds where the handle and hooks attach to the bowl bulge into the interior of the bowl- no attempt to grind smooth. The rest of the bowl's interior surface is not smooth or uniform in the slightest by feel or appearance; rippled, scuffed, random "veins", no polish. The outside of the bowl isn't any better. There's this very uniform spiraling pattern (think road rash scuff) that runs along the entire circumference; as if while the bowl was being spun around, someone took a Dremel tool with a 40 grit drum to it. Even the plastic knob on the crank has scuffs all over it. The only parts that looked half-decent were the sieve discs. The reality is, the package was new and sealed. So, every piece and part was put into the package the way it was, looking like it was beaten and abused for 40 years.I reached out to Louis Tellier, no response- item is being returned before even using it.In short, the product looked as if it was crudely made in someone's garage. No sort of sanding/finishing. Hacked out and placed into a box; no bother to even clean it for crying out loud. That's how low the quality standards are on this item.*One final note in regards to the reviewers complaining about the rusting- it is most likely on them, as the item is NOT dishwasher safe.

The plates rusted badly after first wash. I'd return it but my wife already recycled all the packaging. I'm terribly disappointed by this purchase.

Tin plating is inconsistent. I'm returning for an all stainless model.

I can tell you that you will make the most amazing tomato sauce with slow roasted red and yellow cherry tomatoes from an organic garden like Siverstone organic gardens in Sherborn,ma.2 pound washed tomatoes, a small red onion and coat the bottom of a baking dish or tian with good tasting olive oil, quarter the onion, put tomatoes and onion into the Tian...slow rost for a couple of hours.Cool to room temperature and run thru the Mouli Mill..you will have the best tasting sauce, medium thick, sweet, pinch of smoked Malden Salk added....just so good!It would be at least 25.00 a quart, if you could find someone to make it for you!I studied with Madeleine Kamman, who regularly used these simple tools in her outstanding restaurant in Newton Center.Mass.She was from Annecy France and a brilliant teacher.Put the money in the food, not the decor.
