I bought this hoping for a simpler solution than the screw on strike indicators. It definitely works okay but not great. Molding on a chunk is pretty easy, and it does work. So it's not bad, but I find the traditional foam indicators are more visible, especially through rougher water. One other down side is this stuff sticks on and stains your line. If you switch from nymphing to dries that can be a problem for presentation.

This actually worked far better than I expected. It stays put on the line, can be slid for increased or decreased water level. Can easily add or remove float material for just the right amount.Pleasantly surprised !

This stuff is the only strike indicator that doesn't annoy me more than it's worth. Remember to wet your fingers before pulling off a chunk, because it will stick to you. I'm serious- you'll figure this out after one or two tries, so no harm no foul.It doesn't seem to splash quite as much as bobber-style indicators, and I very much enjoy the idea that I can put it on or take it off pretty much instantly. It WILL leave a little debris on your leader, which you can rub off without problem. But the oil or whatever is still on that leader, so it will have a tendency to float even after you remove the putty. To me, that's a net positive- but if you like to get your leader deep under the water (why are you fly fishing?), that could be a consideration. In all, it's not a perfect product, but it's the best of its kind. 5 trout out of 5 trout.

A similar product was recommended at a recent TU meeting. I couldn't find it in the States. A search turned this up at a decent price and I decided to give it a go. We have an early season in Wisconsin and this year unseasonably warm temps have melted most of the snow so the streams are in mid-April condition, so I headed out. The Biostrike goes on the line well, and as suggested at the meeting, using two colors is handy to help determine which way your fly is drifting. The different colors help pick it up as it moves through shaded and sunny spots as well.

Gute Sichtbarkeit.

I thought I was going to really love this stuff, since it gave me the option to make my strike indicator as large or small as I needed it to be. It's not as buoyant a material as I thought it was going to be, though, so even for a single beadhead nymph I need a chunk of it that's a little larger than a small thingamabobber. In slow water I think it may be more useful - the slower currents may not sink it as quickly. I do still use it, and it is handy, but I find myself using a small thingamabobber more often than not.
