I bought a metal detection kit last summer, and it's been a hit with the whole family. To make our treasure hunts more efficient (and avoid arguments over who gets to use the one scoop we had), I added this sand scoop to our kit. The long handle is the perfect length, making it easy to dig without too much bending, and the heavy-duty stainless steel construction feels incredibly sturdy. It works great for both wet and dry sand and has really upped our treasure-hunting game. Fantastic addition to any metal detection setup. Highly recommend.

I picked this up specifically to help pick up brass casings from a sand floor shooting range. We have tried multiple other types of pick up tools from pecan pickers to contraptions specifically made to pick up brass. The problem is that they all are meant to work on firm ground, if not concrete. Our range is 100% sand with some rocks thrown in. So you wind up picking up each individual piece of brass by hand, which is a real pain!So I got this sand scoop and threw a handle on it that I got on sale from my local big box store. Two screws later and it was ready to go. After we were done shooting for the day, one of my buddies grabbed it and said “I’ll go give it a try.” It usually takes about 10 minutes for maybe 10 guys to pick up all of the new brass on the range. We look at it as the annoying thing we have to all do at the end of the day.So, my buddy disappears for 10 minutes he comes back and says ”It looks pretty good, I think we’re all done.” He’s got a full box of brass and he said it just went so fast that he was able to do the entire range in that time. While it did pick up few rocks as well, no big deal at all. Collectively, it saved nine people the time it takes to pick up the brass and, because you don’t have to kneel down and pick it up on your hands and knees, it saved everyone’s backs and knees as well.I could not be happier with this, and I’m going to buy at least three or four more so we have them on hand for the next range. Super recommend for working in sand!

I found this sand scoop to be a lot sturdier than I thought it would be. So far it has held up great after a few days of use. The sand and everything in it gets heavy, but the handle has stayed strong. It even got dropped and it was fine. There is minimal assembly to it, and everything you need is provided. It's just turning a screw really. If I were to make any changes, maybe I'd make the scoop a little longer and more pointy; however, that's just being picky! I would recommend buying this product. It's extremely helpful and a lot of fun at the beach when searching for little things.

This sand scoop was a bit awkward all around. The handle needs a simple assembly, and while the small wrench and screw were provided to add the handle, the washer needed to go under the screw was missing. Once assembled, I realized the handle was really awkward to hold in the direction it needs to be attached, and the end of the handle was hollow with a jagged metal rim exposed. Turns out, there really should be a long pole inserted into the short handle (which to be fair, was not listed as an inclusion to this product order). This would solve the jagged handle and discomfort of having to stoop to use this product. Oddly, a pair of light protection gloves did arrive with this that weren't listed as part of this. No matter how tight I made the handle, it still just seemed loose like the handle would come off. Nevertheless, we took our metal detector and tried this scoop out with it on a beach. It worked well enough to sift and hold bigger items. Overall, I'd say the extension pole is needed for this but the product worked well enough.

I've bought some sand shovels before and the sand scoops would break off after a while because they weren't reinforced......I bought this sand shovel, which has added welded wraps to the sand scoop over the others, and it seems to be much more sturdy. I choose to trust the design and hope it lasts longer.

I have a bunch of stainless steel metal-detecting sand scoops, some are 35-plus years old and several are less than 5 years old. This one is on the smaller side and this one comes with or without the long handle. Mine did not come with the handle although I believed it did. I have handles that fit so that is not an issue. My complaint is the way the short handle fits is not secure. It jiggles when in use and I find this annoying. This is also a little bit smaller than all my other scoops. Possibly the long handle would reduce the jiggling but doubt this would be the case.
