This is for the Classic Locator System.
The Clear Locator Caps are the second strongest retention caps available for the Classic Locator System. The required tool for replacement of locator caps is either the Locator Core Tool (Part Number 08393), or the Universal Retention Caps Insertion/Extraction Tool (Part Number 488EIP-IQ). These caps are only compatible with the Classic Locator System. Clear Caps are available in packs of 4 or packs of 20. The Following Graphic is a comparison of the Clear Caps with the alternative Caps for the Classic Locator System.
FAQ
The Locator Caps I got are too big. Are those sold here any smaller?
- All Classic Locator Caps are the same sizes. They vary in retention strength, not size. If caps do not fit, then wrong system caps have been purchased. It is the best to determine which system you have prior to purchasing any caps.
Is it better to get the strongest retention caps!
- No it is not. Correct retention caps are determined for each person individually based on a number of factors. Mainly comfort and length of time caps last before they no longer hold. The target time frame is 6 months, but no more than 1 year. Most patients do not need the strongest retention. They just need the follow proper technique to maintain and take care of the Caps they have.
How long should my new caps last and need replacement?
- Original genuine caps designed to function for about 6 months. Proper maintenance and regular cleaning is the key. If caps last you less than 6 months, then you may want to consider getting next level strength caps. Once you reach 6 months of comfortable use stay with that color.
- Make sure to use thumbs to press the fixture down into place in the first few days after replacement of caps and NOT the jaw to snap in place.
Do I need a tool to remove and replace caps?
- Yes you need either the Locator Core Tool (part number 08393) or the Universal Multi-System Insertion/Removal Tool (part number 488EIP-IQ)
- Without a tool you most likely will damage the Caps at the very beginning and they will not work.
Caps I bought do not fit. Can they be returned?
- The only way caps do not fit is when they are purchased for the wrong system. If manufacturer's seal is broken, package cannot be returned as it is considered a HAZMAT.
- Check which caps you need and for which system prior to purchasing. Our pre-sale support is available if needed.

Glad I researched how to replace these caps myself. I have the old legacy Zest Locator system and these (along with the Zest locator tool for the legacy caps) worked perfectly. The tool has a product video that shows exactly how to easily replace these yourself.Getting the black ones out if they have been loose awhile is a bit of a chore, but picking at it with the tool will eventually pop them out. After that, the new ones pop right in and provide a great, snug fit. Once you have the tool and learn how to use it, changing the inserts more frequently is now easy and cheap. The hard part is over ;-)

I have purchased the standard retention locator male cap inserts before and the fit was not snug. ( I have no idea if i'm and saying that correctly)I tried ALL the different levels of retention. The Amazon standard clear caps, hold my clients dentures in place.It was 30 years ago, when the dentures were installed. My client doesn't have any of the original documentation. The dentist charged an arm and a leg for the same results I was getting with the name brand retention caps. Loose fit. Not staying seated. Today was the first time in months I didn't hear those dentures clicking! Hallelujah!Amazon listened to all of those negative reviews and delivered an excellent product.Also, with the other brand, when soaking the dentures in hot water, the caps seemed to lose their retention immediately. I have not used hot water on the Amazon caps, and don't plan to. Just thought it's worth mentioning.

For some reason my dentist did not put any locators in my over denture with three implants. After researching I found that I needed these. Once I did it was a new ballgame for my dentures. They fit so much better and finally realized why I went through all the trouble of getting implants. At first I was disappointed because the fit was bad and needed a ton of adhesive. After getting several different types of these to find the right fit myself and save hundreds of dollars doing this myself. I am very happy now. Get the tool to put these in and take charge of your dental health. Thank you Zest dental for the videos to show me how to do this.

these are identical to the original and made by the same folks, i bought the locator brand tool to replace old ones from amazon and it works really good to install new ones but i'm less impressed with it's ability to remove the old ones so take a sharp pick or an o-ring pick to remove the old ones, i bought the 5's to give me a better hold, really stiff at first but they will stretch just a little to make it easier after a few times to take them in and out at night, i recommend these and the locator tool and will buy the inserts again,

Even though this cap is supposed to work with my implant system, it did not. It's my error because Even though I have legacy implants the metal housing is not compatible. I suggest asking the doctor exactly what type they use or buying the locator tool, popping 1 out and looking at it. I needed extended range and this cap is not compatible with what I have. My fault, not theirs!
