The wood is thin and there are screws used to adjust the height. The varnish is done so poorly it appears to be plastic rather than wood. I think this is the lowest quality shoulder rest I've seen. It might work for practise, and be acceptable as kids can grow quickly, but it did not work for us.

The bracket clamps on securely and has adequate positional adjustability. The problem is it is uncomfortable to use. It needs more padding and possibly a means to adjust the height of the overall product; possibly by having layers of padding that can be added or removed.

I am not a professional here but I'm just learning to vibrato and this helps so much. I never thought I'd say a shoulder rest would be comfortable. Viola! I love it!

This is a nice Violin shoulder support. It is made from plastic, but finished to look like a nice rich wood. The kit comes with the shoulder rest, a mute that clips on the bridge, and a small cake of rosin. This does provide a nice level of support, and a good shoulder pad is an excellent investment for any violinist. It really helps your stability while playing. The main issue I have with this pad is teh limited ability to adjust it. That the way it adjusts is be selecting which holes you put the legs into. Two holes on one side, three on the other. Non of these were spaced wide enough to securely hold onto my violin without exerting what I consider way to much pressure on the violin. It is not wide enough to straddle the violin easily at the widest part without considerable force. I just don't want to put that much force on my violin for any length of time. My violin is a standard 4/4 violin. Noting out of the ordinary. They height can only be adjusted by how far in the legs are screwed. I was trying to leave them as high as possible to give more flexibility to span the violin, but it did not help. The kit also includes a mute, which is a clip over the bridge type. I prefer a different style of mute. I feel this one would be awkward to get on quickly in the middle of a performance. There is also a small cake of rosin. it is cute and comes in a plastic case. It is very small so I showed it next to a guitar pick for relative size.Overall, it is not one I would use, but if it fit my violin better i likely would use it.
