I used it for my indoor aviary. Hence need to modify the brackets as the one provided is only suitable for cages. But still, durable and great product. Even my conures use it apart from my Macaw considering the large nozzle size

I bought three of these for my rat cage. For duplicity and because the cage is pretty big and rats drink a lot of water! I have 2 of the 32oz and 1 16. They are a pain to install but once you get it right it's fine. They do sometimes drip and i have 100% success with just taking the stopper out and putting it back, though most of the time if I ignore it it stops eventually on its own. It will sometimes drip if it's really hot out though, but that is the nature of this kind of bottle. I had to bend the cage bars a bit to accept the medium nozzle but that's fine. I prefer to use glass or stainless steel where I can and I like the slightly wider mouth these offer. The 32oz is like one of those glass milk bottles. You could probably interchange the two but I've never tried. Easy to clean and impervious to temperature, dust, UV light etc. If you have small or weak hands it's a little hard to undo the clip to remove the bottle from the carrier for refill.

I have kept just about every parrot and small bird there is over 40 years. Clean water is essential to the health of any animal, especially birds as they foul their water very easily. I have used the Lixit Glass Bird Bottle in all sizes (small. medium and large) and they have tips small enough for canaries and large enough for Macaws. I have used these on all of my bird's cages for over 30 years and never been unhappy, the bird cannot foul it's water. These bottles are heavy and last forever (unless accidentally dropped on cement-- but I have never had one brake), they are well worth the initial investment. They are also very easy to clean with a bottle brush. I routinely put them in my dishwasher after scrubbing them with a bottle brush. You do have to occasionally re-order the black rubber stoppers (the rubber degrades over time), but all parts are easy to find and they are inexpensive. The units are easy to install, one person can do it but it is easier if two people work together (one on the inside and the other on the outside of the cage. We had problems with large cockatoos trying to dismantle them hardware, but by making the screws extremely tight they were not able to do this. (This was not a problem with the bottles or the hardware...cockatoos simply love to dismantle things and are very good at it.) They drip for a short while when first filling them, this is needful to create the correct pressure in the bottle. I would not think of providing water to my birds any other way. I have also used these bottles for puppies with excellent results. I definitely love the Lixit Glass bottles and would recommend them highly.

I so wish I would have gotten them long ago! Mine are used for birds. (Society Finch) They save me from opening the cage and risking my birds getting out (to our four awaiting cats). This, alone, is an awesome feature. Heavy duty construction and material. I don't think a person could ask for better. I am completely satisfied with them and they make my job of watering SO much easier. The last (silo type) waterers I had would get stuck and my birds wouldn't have anything to drink in the trough. They were made of plastic (another thing I did NOT like) and were very difficult to wash and keep clean. (Seed hulls were always in the drinking trough.) With these my birds always have water. And it's clean! No "bacteria soup". (Please let me mention here, if you change them out every other day (like I do), or a couple of times a week, once a week, check the ball each morning on the spicket when you're taking care of them. Simply roll your finger across the end where the ball is. To ensure that it is where it's supposed to be. If your finger is wet, it's doing it's job. It takes only a second.) Others mentioned the work in attaching them to the cage. And that is so. (All the hardware is to keep bottle safely, and firmly, in place.) I had my 16 yr. old son help me. He, holding the nut with a crescent wrench on the inside of the cage, and I, using a flat head screwdriver on the outside. (Those are the only tools needed.) Having two people made this little job SO much easier. (I can't imagine doing it by myself. I don't think I would have been able to.) This set up DOESN'T take long at all. Very easy, simple instructions...and you're done. Wash the bottle/spicket, fill up, pop in the rubber stopper, and you're ready for use. When needing to change the water, you simply push up the little metal bracket holding the bottle at the top (shown in picture) and pull out the bottle. Very easy and handy! These are easy to clean with a bottle brush. And a nice WIDE mouth to the heavy duty glass bottle makes cleaning a cinch. WONDERFUL! (Bottle can also be put in the dishwasher if you want. I hated to try it for fear that the painted on red "LIXIT" word would be compromised and it wouldn't look new. I'm picky!) These (I bought several), are an excellent product and I simply couldn't be happier with them. Yep! I wish I would have been able to get them LONG ago.
