Always keep these on hand. We have several of them in tanks. They are pretty hard to break but my horses sometimes like to "play" with them. Not that they are not strong; the horses are just jerks. Easy/peasy to install.

Works great and no more leaks. We will see how long this lasts. My last one from this company lasted less than a year and the threading for the hose cracked so it sprayed water everywhere when I turned the hose on. With the southern heat, I think the plastic is not durable enough. They used to be made with a thicker plastic material. I can’t use the metal version due to calcium deposits in the water.

We mounted this on our two large inground fish tanks/pond to keep them topped up with water as the levels were dropping every day. It works fantastic and we are so happy with the results! We connected the two tubs with another line under the walkway and then added this product to the larger one and it keeps both ponds full to the top.

I have had a small water fountain in my front yard for a number of years, to keep it filled during Spring/Summer/Fall I would either have to use a bucket or stretch the hose over to it. Now I have installed the Little Giant and it works like a dream. Since I did not have a hose bib near its location I have attached it to a half inch drip line that is on a sprinkler timer. Parts needed were a 3/4 threaded male/3/4 slip, 3/4 slip/1/2 slip 90,1/2 slip to 1/2 drip connector, a 1 2/2 inch piece of 1/2 Sch 40 PVC, a 1 1/2 piece of 3/4 Sch 40 PVC, PVC glue, three foot piece of 1/2 drip feed line, and 1/2, drip Tee connector. It took me longer to find the pieces and parts at the local hardware warehouse than it did to assemble. The sprinkler runs every other day, I'll lose an inch to two inches sometimes in a day so this unit will return it to full when the sprinklers run. There is still enough water volume and depth to keep the water level high enough for the pump.

I live in south Texas where the weather gets pretty hot, My pool is quite large so monitoring pool levels filling using a hose and having to monitor it carefully to ensure the pool didn't get overfilled took a lot of time this float has worked perfectly for 5 years it is always in the pool throughout the year and through all weather.I can only say how it has worked for me, in places with more severe climates it may have a shorter lifespan also, I have a salt pool so I this review is not relevant to chlorine pools.I check it now and again to ensure that it is still working properly and if I am to be away for longer than a day I usually shut off the water supply just in case. The great thing is when I return it is just a case of turning the water back on and leaving it to automatically fill.Easy to install and great value I estimate that over the time I have had this installed it has saved me at least 40 hours that I would have spent manually filling the pool.

This worked so well I bought a second one. Simple assembly and both have been set up in the pasture for long enough to determine they are working well and not leaking. Because they feel more like hard plastic than 'rubber' as the description infers - I'm not sure how they will perform during freezing temps but I'll try and report an update this winter. I do recommend adding a 45 degree adaptor (as seen in my photos) between the unit and your hose to keep your hose from crimping off. I read a couple other reviews that said the float wasn't shutting their water flow off but I have not experienced any problems with that and both units are shutting water flow off when full. I like that I can hook the float up to a 16 gallon muck bucket so that water is kept fresher than when using it in a large stock tank and doesn't get algae growth as fast.

I saw that another buyer had purchased this and followed his lead to fabricate a pool filler valve similar to one that costs over $110. It seemed like a challenge I couldn't pass up. The valve works great as a pool filler. Thanks a million to that other buyer for his pics! I have a couple of notes for others doing the same thing.First, note the advice to hone out one side of a 3/4" Tee so that it will slide snugly over a 3/4" PVC pipe. You need a rat-tail, or round, file to do this. I had two, but they were very old and not sharp enough to cut quickly. In hindsight, I would have purchased a new file as it took me a couple of hours to do this. Alternatively, you could buy a drill-mounted rasp or rotary file but would have to take care not to overcut so that the pipe won't be snug enough.Second, note that others purchased this with a pressure-reduction valve. In my case at least, this was absolutely necessary as the Trough-O-Matic spewed large overspray during operation off of our house hose pressure. After installation of the reducing valve, it works perfectly.I also purchase a right-angle hose adapter since the weight of the hose puts stress on the housing.Works great! I don't leave it connected all the time, just when filling (hoses aren't meant to be under constant pressure). I installed a quick-disconnect fitting. But when I do use it, I can turn on the faucet and forget about it until hours later when I can come back to turn the water off.
