We have four of these 8-port managed switches as a part of our home network. Connected to a UDM Dream Machine router as the cornerstone of our managed network, these switches allow us to monitor the entire network from the ISP internet connection to each endpoint. Since they are managed switches, we can have separate virtual networks on the same switch allowing for isolation of endpoints into different networks. They are POE switches so they can power POE devices such as wireless access points. They can be managed with the Unifi app on a tablet/phone or from a browser. We manage our switches as part of the larger network including the UDM but an individual switch can be managed if you download the correct software and adopt the switch. Instructions are available online. Care must be taken to follow the instructions and use the correct software to adopt the switch allowing it to be managed. Yes, I said that twice. It comes from 30 years as a technology consultant ;)

Use this router in my garage to power a couple Ubiquitie POE cameras, our long-range U6 mesh component and our Ubiquiti Rocket Prism. It was simple to set up and works flawlessly. The device powers my 3 48v components (Prism takes 24V, so I use the POE injector it comes with). I know their equipment can be pricey, but it is worth every penny I spent on it!!
