Fits 97 Cadillac DeVille Northstar 4.6This tool actually has the pointed tip. That helps get under the hold down tab inside the water pump housing, I borrowed one from AutoZone for $35 that didn't have the pointed and. It only worked halfway. This was much better.Coding did Chip and peel after the first use. Might lead to resting. But I may never need it again.

Water pump was seized up and couldn’t get it to budge. Had to rent a heavy duty one from auto zone for $60. Just rent the tool.

Recently purchased this to replace a rattling/leaking water pump in my 2004 Cadillac Deville. The product works exactly as it is intended and is a snap to use once you get the hang of it. I recommend trying to attach it to your replacement pump so you get an idea of how it is applied to the bad pump in your vehicle. That way, you will see how it "locks in" to the pump you're taking out. That helped me; otherwise, I may have not had it on squarely. There are other pump wrenches that have a bracket that attaches to the pump housing that squares up the wrench, but I didn't opt because of the additional expense.YouTube videos show guys using a breaker bar to remove and reinstall the pump, but I think that is overkill. It makes the wrench that much more unwieldy to "lock in." My Craftsman 1/2" socket did the trick just fine. A little grease on the O-ring is helpful to get it to seat into its little channel. 10/10!

Poor Quality, Don't waste your money. I had to purchase a Name Brand one for $110.00. The new better quality one worked perfect the first time with no damage.

Ordered the tool, supposed to be an easy job. Water pump in car was rusted/corroded tried to hold the tool on with two people while turning and still slipped. The teeth rounded, the water pump wore. If the water pump in engine was clean/hadn't been replaced? May have worked. Otherwise I see why some reviews were 1 star. Possibly could have forged a bracket and bolts to try and hold it down. But otherwise there was no way to make this work. The metal seemed pretty soft and just deformed on the first try. No clue how much pressure would have been required to push the tool inward to keep it from slipping, in this case? Too much.If the water pump is clean and clear this may work, but if there is any corrosion on the tabs that fit onto the water pump, good luck.Seemed like a pretty easy job on a 4.6 northstar, but this tool was too soft (cheap) for the job. Needed harder material or something to force/hold it onto the pump itself. Took it to a GM dealer, they charged 250 dollars and told me it was already replaced once in the past, and someone tried to remove it again. (Me, with this tool. Good luck. Car was a 94 Seville STS.) Had quite a bit of force holding this wrench on, and still slipped. Tried the hammer/screwdriver(chisel) still didn't budge. By the end the tabs were stripped to nothing. Not sure how they finally got it off at the dealer (impact wrench? was mentioned in some cases). Definitely not a DIY tool if the pump is stuck.

This tool will work for the job, however it is incomplete from the OEM version which has an additional bracket to hold the tool into position to keep it from slipping off while using it. Make sure to keep constant inward pressure on it to keep from slipping, may require a second pair of hands.
