Works great. Cut schedule 1 1/4 inch pipe PVC pipe. As recommended do not cut PVC pipe and cold. Keep it at least room temperature and it cuts like butter and does not chip the PVC.

My old cutters only did smaller pipe and took too much effort. Just used these and cut much larger pipe. Much easier for my arthritic hands. Seems well made. Neighbor saw them and wants a pair of his own. Nice for something to exceed expectations!

For easy, fast, and strait, cuts this cutter works great. They have an easy ratcheting grip also you obviously dont need any power or batteries so you can use them anywhere like crawl spaces

Nicely packaged -- a thoughtful (and utilitarian) touch to use the three rolls of PTFE (aka Teflon) thread tape as padding to stop the contents moving during shipping. The tools themselves are reasonably sturdy and not of a terrible quality and the package provides a good combination of tools. The description says "up to 1-1/4-inch" and "cuts various plastic materials (PVC,CPVC,PP-R, PEX, PE, Rubber Hose etc.)" but I purchased for use on just two sizes of PVC (1/2" and 3/4") and didn't find it easy to produce a consistent square cut on just a few cuts of either size. Not even securing the pipe in a grove on a benchtop, to keep it straight and prevent moving, gave better results and in an effort to cut all the way through the 1/2" PVC pipe in one go I got my hand a nasty pinch for my troubles. The tool is not of the ratcheting type so, if you can't cut all the way through in one go, there will be movement and the cut produced is unlikely to be parallel all the was round or orthogonal to the length of the pipe). The movement may be less on pipes that fill the jaws/cup and your technique may improve with practice. For a very small number of cuts over time it may be worth persevering but I'm inclined to seek out an inexpensive alternative with a ratcheting design. Impressed enough overall with the brand though that I will definitely check out if they have such an offering.UPDATE 19-FEB --- adding a star for quality of manufacturer/seller response.Very impressed with the sellers interest in the feedback and in making it right. As I mentioned in my initial review the difficulty was one of usability (especially for infrequent home use) and the lack of an ratcheting offering by the same brand for a reasonable additional outlay (there was a huge step up in price for the least expensive ratcheted version, which was as expensive as the larger and more expensive option that could handle wider pipes). The seller followed up to understand the usage challenges to see if they could help but unfortunately I'd glued the cuts as I'd finished the project. However, as part of my response I gave some feedback about the usage challenges and benefit of a ratcheted option at a price point reasonable for those who would use infrequently (with comparisons of price for options available from lower cost hardware retailers). They appear to have taken that to heart with a significant price adjustment for the lowest cost ratcheted product they provide, so I will be returning and getting one of those instead.Clearly, this is a seller that has great interest in the quality of the products they offer, understanding customer feedback/concerns and then providing exceptional customer service to make it right. The products have a good build quality and I would look very favorably on purchasing from this seller for any future needs.

I watched the videos and advise everyone buying this tool to watch them too. The hints about how to manipulate the tool for small or soft pipe are worthwhile and while I didn't need the hint for cold weather (It was 93 degrees in the shade here when I tested it) I'm sure that the hint to heat up the pipe in cold weather with some hot water or other heat (blow dryer, heat gun) to keep it from shattering or splintering while cutting would be too. The thing I was most concerned about was whether I would have the hand strength to use it. I am over 72 years old, female and have disabling conditions in hands and arms that make them pretty weak. These cut without excessive force having to be applied to the handles. I discovered a couple "hints" myself (maybe people who work with PVC cutters know these things but this is my first time with cutters like these. I have struggled with hacksaws and sawsall, dremel tools, etc in the past and this was the easiest ever and best part, no electricity needed). First, work on a solid surface if possible. Lay the pipe down flat, and put the cutters around it. It is easier to make a perfect level right angle cut across the whole pipe. If you have to cut where you can't lay the pipe flat, take a couple seconds to make sure its at the right angle when you first engage the cutter edge and if not, adjust it then. Second, don't rush it. It will be quick enough, trust me. Don't rush the compression on the handles and don't try to use it like scissors on paper. Press the ratchet handles together slowly, and take a second or two between each cut to check your position and stability as well as that of the tool. That's about it. Very pleased so far. I have made about ten cuts on my project so far including two practice cuts. I got better at it. The tool does not feel loose or stressed and the cutter blade seems to be as sharp on each one, so far. I gave 3 stars for accuracy which may be unfair to the tool, because I had a few that were not perfectly even. But that just means that the tool doesn't quite do everything for you. I had a "learning curve" and I'm still on it. But there were NO burrs or splinters and no cuts that I could not use to fit into and glue the pipe and joiners up tight. If it fell apart today, I would still feel like I got my money's worth, frankly, it saved so much time and agita.

This tool seems well made for informal/DIY use, at least. It is easy to use, acceptably fast, and cuts a clean line with no PVC "dust". My only derating is for the resulting cut squareness at times. Small pipes are generally fine. But on a two-inch cut, the opposite sides of the final cut pipe walls might be 1/10th to 1/8th inch out of square. The cut is clean and smooth, but sometimes the blade seems to want to tilt to one side during the ratcheting strokes resulting in a mild but noticeable wedge to the end of the cut pipe. It's not enough to ruin the glue joint, but it's not always square in the fitting. Since most DIY work is 1.5-inch and below and there's no cut residue, this tool stays in the plumbing go-bag for sure.
