This is for OIL....not antifreeze. OIL....just follow the directions and be careful of the fan blades!I cleaned the engine a bit before using this to show up better. Oil spreads very quickly. The special flash light is needed. Pin points the leak quickly.

I wish we had bought this before paying to have the engine steam cleaned to find the oil leak. This stuff lights up really bright and makes the job of finding the leak easy. We bought a flashlight that had multiple types of lights on it. WHich was a much better buy for us than having a dedicated UV light that wouldnt get much use.

The 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 that I bought last year has a small oil leak. I know its leaking because of the burnt oil smell from the driver's side. Not using a lot of oil but the burned oil smell concerns me as this is a potential safety issue; I don't want it to catch fire.So I tried an ounce of this in the oil, drove it around for fifteen minutes as recommended. It was almost dark and so I should have seen the dye coming from the leak when I used my UV light on it - but no, nothing. I looked all over the engine, not just the driver's side, under it, everywhere. No dye.I shouldn't have been surprised. Over the years I've probably dumped eight gallons of dye in car AC systems that were leaking and have never seen any dye in those, but I was hopeful for this anyway. Not a product issue, I'm certain it's good stuff - just didn't work for me.I'll continue to drive the truck and check it with the UV light from time to time. I'll update this review if any of the dye shows up. For now I'd say, if you can see oil oozing out you can probably also see where it's coming from. If you can't see it this method probably won't work.
