I been wanting to keep a small tripod on-hand that I can setup for a phone or a camera on top of my car or similar. I used to use a grip pod and just didn't like how unrigid they are, especially if I wanted to mount a slightly heavier camera on it. As a fix, I started using a folding monopod base with a ball-head threaded directly onto it, but this still didn't fit into a lens slot in my camera bag.Enter the Leofoto VD-03. What was intended as a robust monopod base is now being used as a super sturdy mini-tripod.I can attach cameras or lens collars directly to the base or to the included 3/8 stud mount as well. But what I like even more is that, with the addition of the LHC-50 arca clamp, I can now put even my 600 f/4 right onto this and it supports the weight without protest. Well done, Leofoto.
