I can't say whether they work or not as I haven't found a snake that was brave enough to bite my wife yet. These were gotten for her as she's not a fan of snakes and she's been out and about more on a piece of property we bought that has plenty of snake habitat. She finds them to be uncomfortable and without an insole strap, they tend to shift. They do cover her legs completely below her knees but the shifting is more than she can deal with. I gave them a middle of the road star rating as they may be more comfortable for other people.

I use these for hunting since I walk off trail through thick brush. I like them but the straps are always comming loose and need to be adjusted constantly.

They adjust well to your leg and fit nicely. They are probably really good for hiking, but they don't do a very good job in the snow. They didn't work as was hoped. It would be nice if you could secure the flap that goes over the front of the boot better. Otherwise, the snow gets in and the shoe gets wet. That said, the material feels nice and durable, they are comfortable to wear, and they aren't too heavy.

They were a little difficult to hold in place and secure but eventually got the hang of it. Bought a set for my wife and myself. I will likely purchase another pair for my grandkids as they go into the deep woods and the rattle snake season is here. I think these garters can stand up to a rattlesnake. They seem tough enough and thick enough.
