If you are obsessed with precision shooting, you will want to use brass that is fire formed to your chamber. Fire your brass, clean it, and use this die to reset only the neck tension to seat the new projectile. You now have brass that no amount of money can buy. Perfectly matched to your chamber. Especially if you invest in top tier brass; this puts the least strain on your cases as opposed to full length sizing, resetting brass back to factory, one size fits all, SAMMI specs. You'll be able to reload your brass many more times without cracks forming on the neck and body due to repeated working of the case, especially if you periodically anneal your necks.

The collet die extends case life by sizing only the neck and produces greater accuracy by leaving the bulk of the case fire formed to fit the rifle chamber.

Typical Lee quality at a great price. Collet die saves time and brass when used in the same rifle.

This inexpensive die yields the most consistently accurate cases I have ever reloaded. I suggest Googleing how to properly set it up. There are multiple forum posts that differ from the included instructions and will prevent you from damaging the die. Any negative reviews are from improper use. A big part is disassembling the die and greasing the collet before use. You also screw the die down just far enough to size the case neck to tightly fit a bullet. You don't need to use much pressure at all on the press handle to size the neck, just consistent force. Also sizing the neck and then rotating the case slightly and sizing again seems to increase consistency. This die sizes the necks of fire formed cases to exactly. 001" of neck tension and less than .001" runout every time.

Great Value. Every time I get something from Lee I'm amazed at the high quality of the product for the price I pay. Their products are simple and work as advertised.

If I could give this 4.5 stars, I would. It is a phenomenal tool - and my brass wouldn't be usable without it. It took me a fair bit of frustration with a good two piece die set before I finally invested in a proper gauge, only to discover that all of my once-fired Lake City brass was just the tiniest bit too big at the neck. Fast forward, I got the four piece Lee Precision .308 set. Worked really well at first, but I tried to use a (honest) tiny bit too much force on my Hornady LNL ammo plant and the guts went to s***. I couldn't get them out, and in trying to get them out, only made it worse. So I reinvested another $23 into this guy because let's face it, the first one that I screwed up was not the mfg's fault, and set it up by the book (again). Again, just the tiniest bit too much on the compression and the cap of the die popped up, stripping the threads out. Had I not had the other (broken by me) die, I would have been out another $23 almost immediately. The other cap was in like-new condition though, and worked fairly well on the slightly stripped die. Not trying to place any blame on Lee - this product does exactly what it is supposed to do! But be careful as when using any type of press that 'cams over', you need to have it as low as you can go so it will not have any additional compression from the cam. A little lithium grease on the guts of this has also gone a long way. I managed to resize approximately 300 case necks in about an hour last night. BE GENTLE. Get a feel for it - it really only takes an extra mm to engage once the case is in it and any more will end your session. It is a quality product for a reasonable price that does what it advertises - but it is certainly a tool that requires some care as you're using it!

I have had excellent results with this die in 308 win loading for a factory Remington 5R with the Sendero heavy barrel. I use the collet die, then turn the case slightly and run it into the die again. I then use a Redding body die to full length size and bump the shoulder back .001" My loaded rounds have less than .001" runout.Lee sells mandrels in larger or smaller diameters in.001" increments if you find you want a different neck tension. They also sell replacement aluminum caps for $5.
