My daughter plays the clarinet. She's gifted in that way, loves to play with instruments and make her own music. We were playing with some other instruments, including a bass clarinet. Our friend could loan her one, but the ligature was broken. When I saw this listing I decided to try it.It works! It replaced the broken on on the bass clarinet and gave her a chance to experiment with my friends'. It seems to do the job well as the instrument plays. There's not a whole lot I can say other than it fits and works.

This would be a good upgrade from a student metal ligature. I have two main issues with this item. 1. The material is very stiff, feels more like plastic than leather. 2. It does not include a cap. Overall, a good product for intermediate bass clarinets or as an emergency backup.

I have been playing bass clarinet for four decades. I remember when this style of ligature became all the rage with woodwind players. The only one I could get for bass clarinet was close to $100! To see this one for less than $20 was heart stopping xD I actually have two of the original, and have never used the second. This style of ligature lasts and lasts. There's no metal frame to bend or bite into your mouthpiece. I was excited to slip this one on and compare it to my more expensive ligature. They are close to identical. The single piece of leather (faux) ensures full and even coverage of the base, allowing for proper vibration. A single large screw instead of two screws means it's easy to adjust pressure on your reed, or change your reed quickly. And since you are tightening material and not metal, the position of your ligature locks into place. There is no screw slippage like with traditional metal ligatures. Just be careful if you leave your ligature on your mouthpiece with your reed for days as the ligature will stick to the mouthpiece. But all you need do is disassemble it and take it off. There are some little reasons why I prefer my original $100 ligature to this one, but those are probably just specific to me, since I've been using it for so long. This is a good budget way for beginner or high school musicians to have experience with this type of ligature. I saw another reviewer mention that the downside of this ligature is that it is a non-traditional ligature and does not come with a mouthpiece cap that fits it. My original ligature did not come with a mouthpiece cap specific to the ligature. I have needed to buy several traditional ligatures for my b flat clarinet and none of those came with a mouthpiece cap either. Mouthpiece caps normally come with the mouthpiece. My mouthpiece cap fits my ligature just fine. This is a solid choice for chamber music, symphony orchestra, jazz, but marching band as well. You haven't experienced a five alarm panic attack until you drop your metal ligature, someone steps on it and flattens it, and you have no way of adhering your reed to your mouthpiece unless some kindly booster parent has a rubber band you can borrow XD I'm going to continue playing with this ligature just to see how it holds up, but 10 out of 10 I would recommend this ligature.

Great and is cheaper than usual ligatures. Good durability works well, and great material. Great as a backup and for students.
