Children who master handwriting are better, more creative writers. The earlier we teach children to master handwriting, the more likely they are to succeed in school, and write with speed and ease in all subjects. We use fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate instructional methods to enable children to master handwriting as an automatic and comfortable skill.
Writing Readiness
By playing, singing, and building letters, transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students develop the important skills they need to print words, sentences, and paragraphs. You will teach grip, letter and number recognition, and capital and number formation.
Printing
Children learn to print using hands-on materials and developmentally appropriate activities. In grades 1–2, students progress to printing mastery with lessons that focus on functional writing practice.
Cursive
Our simple cursive style helps children transition easily from print. Using the same multisensory techniques, the cursive program begins in third grade when children have better developed hand-eye coordination.

I used The Learning Without Tears program with my older so so when my youngest started Kindergarten I used it for him as well. This is a great product at a good price point. The workbook provides plenty of examples to look to and space for organized practice. The workbook combined with the Teacher Manual allows you yeti use multisensory techniques to make writing fun especially for little ones. We have used the My First School Book (Pre K) all the way through the Printing Power Book (2nd grade) with great success.

I would say this is the best handwriting curriculum especially for preschool and kindergarten.

You can try all the other options, but bottom line HWT is the holy grail for teaching handwriting. It has worked for countless kids and the concepts/methods are easy, reliably effective, and fun. If you follow the instructions they will write legibly. The additional books for other grades (1st, 2nd), are also useful. We use a different brand for cursive.

Designed by professional OT's, this book easily taught my kids to write by 3, and assisted in teaching them to read.

My 8 year old wanted to improve his handwriting. I found this book to not only be easy to use, but it didn't feel babyish for a older child. Starts having them practice letters in the alphabet, lower case and upper case, and is writing words by the end. I saw a noticable improvement in his handwriting.

The quality of these workbooks is so great, and I'm happy to see them back on Amazon. Parents should keep in mind that they will need to guide the child, or have teacher guidance on correct letter formation. It's not something just to hand over to the child and let them trace and do letters alone. It's a great program overall!
