I used this brand and part number 10 years ago. This last time I bought it it failed. However, I have a 1946 krylon toilet that takes a three inch rubber ball.

Just what I needed to get some life out of an old Eljer toilet.

The threaded brass insert in the top of the rubber ball will not accept the brass lift rod which came with it, nor will it accept any other rod. This is a manufacturing defect. This is unusable and will be thrown out. Very low quality product.

This molded rubber ball valve (made in China) replaced a very aged ball valve in a 1939 American Standard toilet with original and very (un)standard bronze valve seat. The old rubber ball valve seal area was worn, but the threaded insert that accepts the Lift Wire, and the threads on the end of the Lift wire were stripped, which necessitated the replacement. The new valve seal performance seems at least OK, but the Lift Wire that came with the valve is too short to work in the toilet so I had to make my own copper Lift Wire extension (very inconvenient & time consuming). In addition, there is less float (buoyancy) with the new valve, so the resulting water level in the toilet bowl after a flush cycle is lower than with the old valve. Neither from the Amazon listing nor from examination is it clear if the Lift Wire is solid brass or plated, but didn't want to compromise the surface to find out in case it isn't. Also, the price is more than 3X of exactly the same item at Lowes, but if Amazon is more convenient for you, this may be a good choice.

Surface of ball too hard and would not seat properly. Returned for refund.

Replaced worn part quickly and easily. Best part of Amazon is not having to search for needed parts. Locate.Click Delivered to your door. Really great when you live way out in the woods.

Fixed a leaky toilet in under 2 minutes. So easy to install it was ridiculous. The hardest part was taking it out of the package.

Installed with no issue on an 80 year old toilet. The water doesn't run endlessly any longer and the wife and I are very happy about that.
