It's a simple soldering iron. You just plug it in and use it. Comes with different tips that come in handy in different situations. The size and weight of the iron is ok. It's my first soldering iron so I don't have a solid understanding on the quality. Talking about quality it's alright. You get what you get for the value of 10 dollars. And it's pretty simple to store in a cabinet or work bench.

This soldering iron is the perfect device to use to create drainage holes in plastic trays or planters for planting seeds. It is so much faster and easier than using a drill. It heats up really fast and creates holes with no effort at all. I love it.

For the price, you really do get a good working soldering iron but I would look for a better one if you do constant soldering everyday.

I’m new to assembling electrical circuits. This soldering iron is perfect from my perspective as a beginner. It is temperature controlled and heats up fast. It also comes with fluxed solder, a mount, sponge, and assortment of tips. The instructions were clear, and I had no issues with my first circuit project. The only thing I would like to find included would be something to wick away excess solder around joints.

I went to install an LED in a statue a couple of weeks ago and found that I couldn't find my 25 year old soldering iron. I hadn't used it in 10 years, I had moved 4 times since then and went through a divorce so there's no telling where that old beast is. I had a job to do, Amazon had better prices than the local shops did and I didn't have to go anywhere to get the product.I don't use a soldering iron very often (obviously) but even I know this thing is a bit sketchy. Don't get me wrong, it works, I've used it three times now (obviously I needed a soldering iron more than I thought) but it seriously lacks any level of quality. The temperature does change when the dial is turned, but it's nearly impossible to see the numbers, there's no indicator arrow to actually tell you where toi should be setting the decided temperature and the power switch is less than comforting. The threads on the stand are too shallow and the nuts are too large meaning you can't actually tension the nuts properly to keep the holder from rotating. The spiral holder is so large that unless you set the iron in it just right half the handle slides inside it leaving the entire tip hanging out the bottom unshielded. The solder is not the best quality but it works. It needs a much higher temperature than I expected... then again without an indicator I honestly don't know what temperature the iron is supposedly running at. The amount of flux paste included is ludicrous. It's enough to last me several lifetimes and WAY more than what's appropriate for the amount of soldier included.Does it work? Yes. Will it possibly catch on fire and burn down my garage? Yes.

I ordered one of these, it worked very well so I ordered a second one as present for a young man who will make good use of it.The entire kit is worth more than the price but I don't want to judge it like a high end iron. That said it gets hot very fast and is quite responsive. I use a green type acid paste Flux and rosin solder to wet my tips and the tips are showing signs of wear after a couple of projects.I take good care of the tips and prevent oxidation but they are not made of a long haul alloy, still, for the price and function, they are fine. The temp control is not really precise, but it is good enough for normal use, and the desoldering pump and tweezers were a nice and usfull touch. All and all it is worth the money and works very well out of the box, you will want tinning Flux and some steel wool because the tips are very lightly treated.I saw another review which said that the tips did not transfer heat well... This was not the case for me. Even the needle point was conductive enough to melt solder points and do desoldering work. The ceramic element looks delicate, not a big deal but between the tips and the element I shut it off if it was going to take more than a couple of minutes to get to the next use.The "stand" is a joke, it's so bad it kind of prankish.. I guess you could screw it to a table... But I wouldn't.Tldr: Buy it if you have a few hours of work to do and I think it will treat you well. It's certainly a good price for what you get.Update: after running this thing for a year I must say that it is an amazing tool. Yeah, it's not precise, yep, I said the element looked cheap... Still true, but this iron is still working perfect and now has done a lot more work than most units will see if you do occasional repairs, I 3d print, work on computers and work on electronics hardware and it is still going.... I said it was a good price, I was wrong, it's an amazing price, almost a steal!
