A real interesting instrument integrating numerous digital effects on a small guitar. Don't expect too much from the acoustic quality of the guitar without turning it on. The fun is after turning it on and plug it into the amp. It's fun, but still a musical toy in a sense.

I got this for my husband for his birthday. I haven't given it to him yet but I gave it 5 stars because of the look and quality so far. It's light weight and comes with a case. I'll come back and update this once he has a chance to play with it but so far it seems great!

Okay, I waited to write this review for over two weeks in order to try out this new tech and give an honest opinon. I own Taylors, Martin, Breedlove and Guild guitars and I must say this is the most fun guitar that I have ever purchased. I got the nightfall version...looks great... and went for the Lava Play to just check out this new type of guitar and the price was very reasonable for 400. It arrived in perfect condition and packed very well. The setup was a tad high, not bad, but I adjusted the relief and shaved the saddle a bit so better now and easy to do. I wasn't crazy about the strings so I restrung with Elixir lights for a fuller sound. This guitar is similar to some of the new Martins with HPL which is okay but the ace in the hole is the electronics, just amazing what it can do for the price and sounds damn good for a 400 dollar guitar. I reached out to Lava with an email for a question and they responded immediately which is also impressive. I think that you can't go wrong with this and Amazon because if you hate it you can return but I doubt that you will, it's kind of an addictive little instrument that you will have fun with for a long time. Forgot to mention that the tuner is great in this guitar, many variations including alternate tunings which is a very nice feature.

This was a gift for my grandson who is learning to play the guitar. He took to it immediately and finds so much joy and relaxation making music. I worried this would be another item he would quickly become bored with, but he has shown so much interest in it. His friends come by to play and make music with him as well. I’m grabbing another for my granddaughter for a Christmas! This is such a great guitar and not only for beginners. My son loves it and he’s a great guitarist. Worth every cent!

Was looking for a smaller guitar that I could noodle around on throughout the house. This seemed to fit the bill, and the added electronics seemed quite cool. However, I now know why it is priced as it is.Firstly, you can barely hear the effects coming out of the guitar. The setup from factory was horrible, and any strum with a pick led to horrible feet buzz. I adjusted the truss rod and that made it slightly better, but then I realized it was from the frets not being level.Second, the line out simply did not work half the time. Upon plugging it in, I was met with crackling and popping, as well as horrible feedback. Not something I was expecting from what is supposed to be a “next generation” guitar.Overall, I’d say stay away from this, and look for a more traditional guitar, as the gimmicks get old rather quickly, and do not offset the problems this guitar has.

Very Unique GuitarSounds amazing on its own. But once you start up the app it transforms your music to the next level , Haven,t Put it Down Since .Learning new features on it .It's not as Loud , as a guitar ampBut more at a personal level. To be Honest , it looks like a Toy at 1stBut a few who have Tried it , were Amazed , its a Great Travel Parlour Guitar .The only 2 things I would Change on it, is the Head stock. It s Ugly. Plan and Simple. The Sound Hole is located perfectly as it allows the sound to come thru like a Top Edge Sound Port. And the Menu could be Better ,A Home Return Home Icon Displayed At all times at the top or bottom Corner of the Screen. There been a few times, Where I had to restart it just to get back to THE MAIN MENU from Recording screen or the Effects Selection..And The Feed Back from the Bridge pickup or the internal Mic some time will occur 😞 . Depending on Effect Selection.Hopefully There will updates this in the near Future. To Correct these Issues .This is a Very well Constructed and Solid Guitar.Highly Recommended.Battery life is Very Good ,Recharging only once or twice a month. The only other Acoustic GuitarsI would Consider over Lava Play Models Is The Yamaha FG-TA Transacoustic and The Martin SC-10E . Which are Double and Tripled the price, than the Lava me play. But each are very Unique. All 3 Brands and Models mention Above Have Amazing Sound and Playability ,Were One could just Play for Hours .

Super surprised by quality of the guitar!! and the functionalities. I have the lava me 2 and like it a lot, I recently have seen lots of IG influencers like Mateus Asato and so on that are playing with the loops and backing tracks on the lava me 3 and 4, then I decided to give it a try, so I bought the most affordable version — lava me play. And MY GOSH, I was completely blown away by how much I enjoyed playing it. The guitar is like a mini studio or creative hub if you will, I have created 3 short pieces in a day, there are LOTS of drum loops and backing tracks that you can choose from. I think it’s the “instant experience” that sparks so many ideas. The effects are really neat too, especially if you plug it in or record internally. It’s definitely a big leap from the lava me 2! The playability of this guitar is amazing, it doesn’t feel like a 399 guitar, it’s well made and I don’t have to worry about taking care of it, just like my lava me 2. I think if you don’t wanna spend that much for the features or if you’re a beginner, the lava me play is really a perfect choice !!! Love it so much

I bought the Lava Me Play on 10/3 and it arrived 10/9 in perfect condition. It's a small guitar for sure, somewhere between a parlor and OO size. The HPL body makes for a super light, slightly neck-heavy guitar. There's a usb-c charging port on the bottom of the body (I immediately put a magnetic charging adapter on it to minimize strain on the usb port until I pick up the wireless charging stand). It came with about 58% charge and after roughly 4 hours of playing with all the bells and whistles it was down to 51%, so it seems like it will last quite a while on a full charge. The big selling point of this guitar is obviously all the smart features. If you, like me, watched videos on YouTube of the Lava Me 3 and thought it looked cool, but too pricey for what may turn out to be a gimmick, this guitar has all the Lava Me 3's features with a faster processor and more memory for a smoother interface. For $400, it does a LOT of cool stuff. The built in tuner, drum tracks, looper, and lessons are all top notch. The effects are numerous and range from great to totally gimmicky, but the simple reverb, flange, and phase settings are pretty great. I need to spend more time playing around with settings (I boosted the effects volume in advanced settings by about 25% - any more than that and the feedback the app warns you about starts to become an issue), but I'm confident in saying that the value for money for the Lava Me Play is pretty incredible. Yeah, the HPL feels and sounds cheap when played without effects, but those effects overcome the shortcomings and then some. It's a little bit like saying a strat sounds crappy unplugged - that ain't the way it's meant to be played.All-in-all, I'm super impressed with this fun, kinda weird looking tech demo of a guitar. I've played for over 25 years, have played many different kinds of guitars and can't think of one that's more fun to play than this. If you're a beginner, grab one - it will make learning easier and way more fun (and the super low action makes for happy fingers). If you're a guitar vet and want to play with something fun and different, you can't go wrong with the Lava Me Play.(Also, it connected to my WiFi no problem, not sure what could cause the other reviewer here's WiFi issue, but my guitar thankfully didn't share that problem.)
