Nice holders for the price. And they go perfect with the quick change tool post I a setting up on my small bench lathe. Inserts are common and easy to find along with doing a good job of cutting even moderately hardened steel.

Each has in effect two cutting edges and if you switch turning directions you might get two additional ones. The inserts are a good fit on the holders and easy to install with the supplied wrenches.For a home shop where tool wear might be less of an issue it would be nice to have dead sharp carbide instead of having a radius on the cutting edge.5 Stars no surprises and quite economical.How I review:Reviews start with 5 stars and I subtract points.- 0 for value but I try to provide guidance-0.5 to -3 for product not matching description e.g. stainless steel is actually plated steel-0.5 to -3 for product missing badly on executionI select products carefully so low (1-3 scores) are rare but detailed comments and critiques almost always are in the review. So far, I’m very pleased with this set of tool holders and inserts. I’ve been using them on my micro lathe with very good results. The holders are sturdy and well-made, and they fit perfectly into my OXA QCTP cartridges. The finish they produced on all three metals I’ve tested so far—brass, aluminum, and mild steel (pictured)—has been very nice. The inserts do a good job of chip breaking, even with aluminum.Not much more to say here. I think this is a good value set of carbide tools. I’m sure there are plenty of better, more expensive sets out there, but for a hobbyist like me, they’re perfect.

Two well made carbide cutter holders, one left hand and the other right hand. Uses standard replaceable carbide cutters and comes with ten cutters and two torx wrenches to replace them with. The ones I ordered were half inch and they fit perfectly in the tool holder on my big green lathe. Rigid tooling like this is a joy to use on a lathe and chatter is just a memory.

First off, let me clarify one potential misconception. These ARE NOT “Threading Tools”, they are merely turning tools for left and right lathe machining processes. That being said, these insert tool holders do seem to work very well for turning applications. The inserts in the set I received seem to hold firmly in place and do not chatter or vibrate loose during cutting passes and leaves a very smooth finish on final pass. The chip breakers do exactly what they are supposed to do and eliminate the problem associated with flat top inserts which leaves a bird nest of curls tangled around the cutter. Tiny chips are far easier to deal with on clean-up. The price for this set is very reasonable.

During my machining days I did a lot of lathe work, and carbide insert tool holders were commonplace. Those were of industrial manufacturing quality, and had a 2-screw retention system. This set is not bad at all, especially for the light, or medium duty hobbyist. The carbide inserts have a single screw mount, have been durable, index as they should, and chip the material well. For their intended purpose, these are nice tools.

Rupxinsplend, where do they come up with these names…lol, threading holder kit. Two bars machined to accept carbide cutters of which 10 are included. Perfect for chasing new threads or cleaning up/repairing damaged threads. Cuts quickly and cleanly. Cutters can be reversed to extend life. Used with proper lubricant these should last a good long while.
