I run a manual machine shop, not a hobby shop. I purposely ordered this in the 1" shank to support heavy cuts. It's actually a 5/8" shank. If you need a 1", do not order this item!

The tool that I received was marked with the correct part/style number that is described as featuring a 1" shank, but actually features a 5/8" shank. Thinking that there was some kind of goof, I requested an exchange for the same item (again, described as featuring a 1" shank), and again received a tool with a 5/8" shank. The appearance and quality of the tool upon inspection offers no reason to object, unless you are for some reason (such as the product description) expecting to receive a tool with a 1" shank. I'm sure the tool with the 5/8" shank will work just fine, but will not (directly) fit 1" tool holders, or offer the rigidity of a 1" tool.

This is an excellent radius turning tool for a lathe.I am using it on my 7x10 mini lathe and it cuts great! I did add some never seize to the screw just in case it decides to not come out one day.I bet if you take it easy, the insert will probably last a long time.On aluminum im running it about 1000 RPM maybe a bit faster. Hand feeding it in.I am amazed how much material and how smooth the finish is even with a good sized DOC (for a mini lathe).I can definitely recommend this tool and the inserts!

I was surprised when I went to remove the cutter and the wrench supplied broke to pieces because the screw was so tight and hard to remove. The threads looked galled and somewhat shiny. After reinstalled it seemed to tighten okay. This part is 1/3 the price of Seco so you get what you pay for.

Tool is decent shanked but the insert is a piece of junk used on a half inch round aluminum bar two passes very light cuts and is dull already, The main thing is the size of the insert it is very very small also the cost is way expensive for the insert not a good buy for the amount.
