... for the right use. For TOP-Class made and set-up pro viola, this works wonders: A -string: Larsen Medium Aluminum/Steel; D, G, C: Obligato. For fff, relax right arm/hand, hold right elbow high, bow slightly closer to bridge, all bow-hair on string, pull/push bow slightly faster. NO MUSCLE PRESSURE BY RIGHT HAND OR RIGHT ARM: Gravity will do it all for you. Muscle pressure brings scratchy sound and messes with you when you perform solo. Let nature give you that full, rich viola sound.

I bought this as a replacement for my sister's viola when her helicore string broke. Right away, we noticed a difference in sound and texture. She has a Romanian viola that wasn't that expensive, but the Larsen string gave it a richer sound, even for an A string. Also, she says playing on it feels like gliding on silk. Very happy with this purchase, and I'm considering buying a whole set for replacement.

This is not the viola string but I just bought a Larsen viola a string and really love it. it has depth and does not scream or have a tinny shrill sound. I may try one of the other strings to see if they also have the signature warmth and depth for my D or G strings as well! I recommend this to violists who want a warmer richer viola A string sound
