Not sure abot the bad reviews. It clips on nicely on my Acer laptop screen with a click and the adjustments are amazing. I finally found the best light for my laptop which does not have backlit keyboard. Creates a nice soft low (adjustable) zonal light for working on bed when my partner is asleep

The bar light would always fall off if you tried to move it. It seemed like it didn’t want to fit over my laptop. I travel with laptop a lot making it rather annoying to always have to adjust it.

I had this light for about 2 weeks and I am truly blown away at the quality and functionability of it. To finally be able to have my keyboard seen as I work in low light is amazing and it doesnt bother my spouse with bright light shining like those other lights you plug in do. . The ability to switch the direction and the brightness is so easy. The only thing that I can potentially see as a possible issue in the future are the clips being thin. I'm sure that's designed that way so you can keep the light attached and still close the keyboard. Overall I recommend it.

As a light source, this light bar provides decent light with a variety of light settings. That would earn it at least 4 stars out of 5.Its overall design, however, makes it useful only under the situation in which your laptop has an available USB-A port on the side of its chassis. This, unfortunately, it is not as common as it was years ago. In the past four or five years, it is less and less common to see a USB-A port on a laptop. You could power this light bar using, for instance, a laptop dock/hub with a USB-A port. However, the light bar’s cable is so short that it is difficult for it to reach a hub in certain desktop layouts like mine. You would think that you could use a USB extender cable or a USB-A to USB-C adapter. However, the light bar’s touch switch is built into the USB-A connector. In summary, this is a good solution if you have a laptop with an available USB-A port to provide power.

I have an Acer Chromebook from 2015 and it has a screen with a curved over edge. This device doesn't clip to it, just pops off. Why do I have such an old Chromebook? Well why did I order a light? The key card doesn't light up... Anyways, other than a lack of universal attachment method the light works beautifully, customizable levels of light and 3 different color modes. Small and sleek. If I can't Frankenstein it to my shitbook then I'll salvage the light because this thing is a gem. Worth the wait for it to ship from Neptune. Found out it makes an excellent map light for a sun visor if your car is cheaper than my neon.
