The last sharpener with base I purchased had short rods. The longer rods are much easier to use. I would also purchase two additional rods in a more course surface if available. I've been using this type of sharpener for over 40 years.

very affordable. great quality, and once you're used to freehand sharpening, very easy to use.I have been learning (for probably 10 years now) to hone my edges to create an edge geometry that works with what i use my knives for. this ceramic rod is the perfect addition to my setup. i will never be without one again if i can help it. Yes there are fancier ones with handles and thicker ones... but i like the quality and low cost of these lansky replacment rods instead. i dont even own the apparatus the rods are used in. i simply hold the rod at the correct angle and lightly hone that edge. i use their diamond replacement rods as well.

Stealthy rabbit display description misleading. I thought it was for a pair of rods and it was for one. Price was almost twice what it would cost elsewhere. Ultimately my fault.

It's a decent enough rod, not as fine of a finish as the crock sticks I use, but it will do in a pinch.I really don't appreciate the seller posting this with a picture of a PAIR of rods but only selling one. At this price, you'd think you're getting a pair of sticks. If I ever needed to use this replacement rod, I'd have to get another stick since the grit is not as fine as the ones I use.It's kind of a shame, but the pair I have I have yet to find a replacement for - the quality of crock sticks has plummeted and what they consider "fine" nowadays really isn't.

Stick the longer rod in my turn box. Work better than normal length rod on chef's knife and long slicer.

I love this ceramic sharpening rod, ive had a few and loved them. I managed to loose my last one in a move and have been looking for one to replace it and i found this one and LOVE IT! I had a knife that was almost a blunt edge and a few strokes on this with it and now its razor sharp. Great Product. Just be careful if youve never used a ceramic rod before because if you dont run the blade at the right angle you can dull the edge rather than sharpen it.
