This regulator / rectifier is total garbage. Installed it on my quad (coil output voltages all read perfect), and immediately checked the output voltage. It's outputting low DC voltage (6 volts), but also outputting AC voltage as well. In other words the output is very dirty and not totally rectified. After it warms up a bit it does even worse, to the point it will stall when trying to run faster than idle. Turning on the headlights helps, because their resistance helps to smooth / rectify the voltage enough for the ECM to function.Note that if you have a good and fully charged battery it will mask this issue, as it also rectifies and smooth the voltage (IE doing the regulator's job). However your battery can only handle so much before the overvoltage and AC input fry it. Most quads should be able to run perfectly fine without a battery if the voltage regulator and rectifier is doing its job.
