Pros:Metal forming has holes in the right place for mounting the actuator, and was easy to mount into the car.Plastic lever arm seems to work okay.Cons:The one I received is missing the square hole that is needed to mount the emergency release cable. I don't know if it would still work without that part of the cable being mounted to something.The plastic lever arm looks to be of similar design to the original one that failed. I've fixed the original one a couple of times, but it's just a bad design altogether. It should have been metal. I might just fabricate a backing plate with JB weld and flat metal from a soup can or something. I did that before, but now a different part of the plastic broke. 20+ year old plastic just isn't up for the job anymore.2025/02/23 update: I ended up ordering a replacement for just the plastic piece that broke. I wrote before that this should have been made of metal. This replacement IS made of metal. Search for '1J5827567APRM'. Yes, it is more expensive, but is not likely to need replacement, ever. This was the kind of fix I wanted in the first place!

After drilling a hole for the product for the cable and fighting to make it work, i just did away with the safety cable. I doubt anyone will be locked in my trunk anyway. If you dont have the kidnapper handle then dont worry about it. Also, make sure to adjust the little ball joints that connect to the plastic mechanism so that it is not pushes past its limit or you might break the new one. I would recommend anyway.

There was no hole for the emergency cable holder. Had to drill and shape one into the metal. Product seems okay but I have not had installed for long. Would be higher stars but it was not advertised correctly.
