This 0.01g level scale keeps better coffee tastes. If its little moving plate in design may be fixed, my coffee life would be a happier habit. June 13, 2024.

the bad review i gave this scale should have been a bad review on me-not the scale. i calibrated it incorrectly and thought it was a bad scale. this company went over the top to help me! i want to give this company and this scale a 5 star review-both deserve it. my thanks for their patience in helping me. i will buy from this company again. Last year I reviewed a centigram scale (to the nearest 0.01 g). It was very good but why do I need another centigram scale? The answer is capacity. The previous one was only good to 600 g; this is good to 5 kg/11 pounds which is over eight times as much, so if you only have small things to weigh relatively accurately you can get by with a lower capacity scale but if you want to weigh up to 5 kg you need this laboratory scale. Suggest including the scale's precision (0.01 g) and capacity (5 kg/11 pounds) prominently on the outer box, the written instructions (fluent English) and on the scale itself to keep you mentally aware of what you are working with, especially if you don't use it often or many people use it. Although it is not designed or authorized for commerce, it was repetitively accurate out-of-the-box at least measuring my series of calibration weights (Amazon) which range from 100 g down to 1 g (I also tested combinations including 50, 20×2, 10, 5, 2×2). Although the scale itself does not come with a calibration weight whereas the lower capacity one from last year did come with 100 g calibration weight. And if you want to verify calibration throughout the range up to 5 kg you will need some pretty heavy calibration weights. I can testify that at the lower range it is totally accurate out-of-the-box.The scale is rather massive and heavy and came in its own Styrofoam cushioned box. But I had to assemble its weighing platform to its main body which required two tiny Allen wrench drive screws, a surprisingly difficult alignment job. Fortunately they provided four screws (two extra) and the needed Allen/hex wrench but loose in the same bag as the body of the scale. Suggest a small Ziploc baggie so they don't get accidentally lost. Since I will not be using it very often I will store it in its plastic bag in its shipping box, but in order to make it fit once I assembled the weighing platform I had to trim the upper Styrofoam cushioning by 1 inch to make it all fit back in the box. Unfortunately you know how trimming Styrofoam is messy.Once assembled it can be powered either by connecting the included cord (round connector to USB type A) to the usual 5 V source (you provide) or by a 9 V battery (not included). It works fine both ways. I opted for the 9 V battery and there is plenty of space in the battery compartment for it. But getting the battery compartment open required more than just my finger and thumb- needed a small screwdriver to help. The leveling bubble works well, it has large, easily read digits with automatic backlight, responds quickly to weight changes and has automatic turnoff. In conclusion: highly recommend.

Its great and works rather well out if the box, but definitely needs calibration before use. The are way more modes and weight options than I will ever need, but it's worth it if you have those calibration weights.
