took much effort and still unsure if it can work as intended for data transfer but after an initial hurdle they have been helpful to resolve

This is really a professional scale. I needed something that could readily and accurately show me subtle measurement differences in growing phytoplankton and purchasing same. I have realized the disparity in weight sold and weight received because of the accuracy of this scale. It has options I intend to use in baking and food preservation. This is well made and quality material. I am thrilled to have the use of it and would recommend it to anyone in need of precision and accuracy.

Was using this to measure product for making mead and other cooking items. Was working fantastically for a month and then just randomly it started to give really weird readings. Was not able to get it to hold calibration and there is no advanced manual for this to really get into the settings to make sure everything is the correct settings. If an advanced manual was available, then this probably wouldn't be an issues.

This scale has taken some getting used to, mostly because it is very slow to settle on a weight. I typically add ingredients straight to my formulation beaker while on the scale one after another, and my previous (but less accurate) scale registered added weight very quickly. This one lags a bit so I've had to learn to slow pouring a bit sooner to avoid adding too much of something. It is also very sensitive; two examples - one time, I had to turn my music down because apparently the bass caused vibration in the room (I couldn't feel it and it wasn't that loud, but the scale wouldn't settle on a weight and kept oscillating until I turned the music way down). Another time, I was doing laundry. The washing machine is in the same room as my table with the scale on it, about 8 feet away. Running the washing machine caused enough vibration on the floor that the scale again wouldn't settle on a weight. I paused the washing machine and the scale worked. Sometimes the microwave running 2 feet away affects the scale as well. The adjustable feet also don't hold their positions; every couple of days, I have to readjust the feet to make the scale level again. That said, these are minor quirks that I've gotten used to working around, and to have a scale that measures accurately to .01g and can hold larger batch rates at this price (which is pretty low, relative to my wish list scales) has been great for me as my business is growing but not yet at the point where I can invest in those wish list scales. I'm happy to have more accurate measurements, even with the quirks. (My previous scale only measured to 0.1g, and my batch sizes have outgrown the small jewelry scales).

Very responsive. I'm using this to weigh trays of freeze dried food to make sure I've completely dried it. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the weight fluctuates while sitting on the scale instead of settling into one value. This could be because the freeze dryer is vibrating or maybe the trays are vibrating and slightly wobbling.Despite this, the weight seems to be spot on - we weighed some jewelry after having it weighed at the jewelry store, and it was spot on. So I am confident in the weight.Overall, this is a good product and does what it advertises. (BTW: if you see an awful review from me, it was a mistake, I thought I was reviewing a different product when I wrote that review.)

This is a great looking scale. I use a few different brand of scale but I really like this one. Unfortunately, it had a missing part, a rubber support piece from under the scale table. I wrote the company an email and they responded within 24 hours and I received not only one, but 4 replacement pieces. Five stars

I've been dieting--either to lose weight or maintain it--for the last decade plus. I count calories and, in order to do that accurately, I weigh everything I eat. The moment I abandon that procedure, the weight begins to return. When I initially received the Bonvoisin, I was quite pleased because it addresses the weaknesses of my current favorite, the OXO, as well as those of the many other scales that I have tried over the years. With very low weights, it is extremely accurate and consistent. Example: According to the US Mint, a Nickel weighs exactly 5 grams. Weigh it with the Bonvoisin and you will get 5 grams. Re-zero and weigh again and you'll still get 5 grams. Try 2 Nickels and you'll get 10 grams. With other scales, you might get 4 grams one time and 7 grams the next.Another example: put about 3 grams of butter on your butter knife and then transfer to your toast sitting on the zeroed scale. You get 3 grams. Many other scales won't even register that kind of weight and will continue to read zero. You get the idea. All inexpensive kitchen scales that I have tried have issues in this area but not this one.The top surface is a removable flat stainless-steel platform about 7 inches square. The platform's surface is large enough so that it will accommodate a dinner plate without obscuring the LCD readout. The display is composed of 1-inch brightly lit LCD digits making it very easy to see.The removable platform is a key feature because if you use your scale a lot like me, you will spill and being able to clean up easily is a great feature. The platform just lifts off with no hassle and is dishwasher safe. The scale is powered from a wall outlet so no batteries and no auto-shutoff. It just stays on like a table lamp until you turn it off.Unfortunately, there are 2 problems and they are big ones for a food scale: (1) it reacts too slowly. If you're pouring anything into a receptacle on the scale's platform, the weight reading will lag behind badly - several seconds - and you are apt to overshoot your desired weight. And (2) changing between grams and ounces requires three pushes of the Units button and from ounces back to grams requires 11. This is all to bypass other units that you're not likely to ever use.I don't penalize the rating for the Bonvoisin for any of this because it is a Lab Scale that I was trying to use as a food scale.
