Easily holds a half gallon mason jar with room to spare the plastic guides get in the way of the chain hook somewhat and need to be loosened partially for the chain to engage the hook fully but a beefy lab clamp otherwise.

I had one of these already and was extremely pleased with how well it grips glassware (and you cant beat the price) so I just had to get another. When first using it you may be a little scared of breaking whatever glassware your using it on because of how much tension your putting on the chain and therefore squeezing the glass but I've found glass tends to be stronger/sturdier than you expect, its usually a sudden sharp impact that breaks glassware (at least I've found with borosilicate glass). So release the spring tensioner by unscrewing the bolt, wrap the chain around the glassware and pull until the next possible link on the chain gets to the holding finger during which you will add tension to the spring, once its there you will need to tension the screw some more by screwing down the spring as the original tension amount is not enough to hold the glass without it falling out. Once its there and you tightened it properly it wont come off, I guarantee it.The original I used to hold a cold trap for vacuum distillations and it holds it tight and the glassware doesn't slip out, even when I try to manually pull it out, I have to release some spring tension before it comes loose, even then it takes effort to move it.

Not a great clamp. Tightening mechanism is clunky and weak. The stand rod-arm thumb screw thing is good.

This is definitely a "get what you pay for" kind of thing. The clamp works okay, but it is definitely a cheap design. The wingnut gets stuck a lot.
