i bought the sheath because it came up on the Trail Boss Axe page as a recommended purchase to go with the axe. it *almost* fits, but because of the shape, when you try to pull it over the blade, the to edge of the axe blade slices through the rather thin leather.

Awesome for the price.Thin really stiff dry leather with some type of cheap metal rivets & a snap. Fits & holds tight. And it smells like leather FYI.I love to modify so I lightly hand sanded it so it didnt look so reddish, spray painted the metal brown with some over spray, dyed it brownish & rubbed mink oil in & out. Bent it up a bit rubbed more on. Looks nice, old & distressed.I recommend it. Works fine as is. But if you're picky & looking for better no messing around quality spend 30 bucks or more for better leather with brass rivets & snaps. I'm fine with $11.99 & TLC.I usually make my own but I just like to try new things Especiallly with very little time in.

The HF hatchets are high quality but I decided they needed a cover for safety sake. These fit well.

I looked at a lot of these for a camp hatchet that had nothing to make it safe to pack or carry. I finally guessed this one would work. It isn’t a great fit but I am keeping it because I will be able to modify it to fit better. I am satisfied.

Bought 4 of these for the cold steel trail boss. 3 were very snug but fit. 1 was slightly too small and strap will not snap. Finish and material are good for the price point.

Fits a Cold Steel Trail Boss axe perfectly. I bought two, but one arrived with a 3 inch long slice diagonally across the top of the inside of the sheath that goes from one side to the other. It wasn't sliced all the way through to the outside so I superglued it on the inside. Now it looks bad/darker in that spot but it still works. Other than that I put some leather waterproofing wax on it and it looks and works great.

This sheath fit my Cold Steel Trailboss axe perfectly!BUT, it isn't perfect out of the box. To make this sheath amazing and last a lifetime, do the following:1. Use a cotton cloth and isopropyl alcohol all over (inside and out) on the sheath. Saturate it and let it dry. Bend and flex the sheath over and over. This softens the leather almost instantly. Don't worry about the red dye coming off.2. Saturate the sheath with Obenauf's Leather Oil heavily inside and out. Let it soak and set in before wiping off the excess.3. Smear Obeanuf's Heavy Duty Leather Preservative inside and out. LIGHTLY wipe off the excess.4. Set the sheath in your oven on Keep Warm (170 degrees). Let it bake for an hour. Remove, wipe off excess and let cool.After this process, you will have a very strong pliable sheath that will protect your axe. It will last a lifetime and looks rustically awesome! The color changes from a red stained leather to a deep dark rich mahogany.
