The Gas-a-Just is available as an OE monotube replacement and as an OE twin-tube performance upgrade. The KYB Gas-a-Just has two separate working chambers: An air-free hydraulic piston and valve area for responsiveness & control, and a second high-pressure nitrogen gas area with a floating piston that provides a comfortable ride during normal driving and adds instant performance on demand.

I replaced all 4 stock shocks on my 1992 Daihatsu Rocky based on the thought that a 28 year old vehicle with over 100,000 miles was due for replacements. It's hard to say I can tell much difference with the way it handles with the way it's used. No serious off road just normal local paved road trips.

Seller's description is poor. This is NOT for a 1965 Corvair car but for the truck or van. Description says neither. Return process was really smooth.

Ordered these and KG5534 at the same time. Have 1500 miles on both. The rears(5534) are still riding firm and much better than 21 year old OEM. These fronts however(stamped Made in Malaysia), are already feeling blown out. The first 500 miles 'boating' was minimal, it is now back after 1500. Will be looking for either stamped 'Made in Japan', or a different brand as a replacement.

I will call these ok shocks, but I think they are not as good as the old Monroe gas shocks were when they were new. They ride and handle ok, but they are of much lighter construction than the Monroes were. Only time will tell how well they hold up.

This is for KYB KG5517 Gas-A-Just shocks but I assume also it would apply to any Gas-A-Just shocks.I purchased these shocks for a 1990 Daihatsu Rocky, which is a somewhat rare vehicle in the USA, making it hard but not impossible to find parts. In the past I have purchased cheap shocks on ebay or other sites hoping to get good quality, but ended up disappointed. So I thought I would take the high road and buy some shocks with a solid brand name (I never heard of any problems with KYBs) and with a slightly better than standard rating/set of features. These are monotube shocks which are apparently better at providing a good solid ride without compromising stiffness. Made in Japan.I could tell immediately when I put these shocks on my vehicle how good they were. Bumps along the road in the city get absorbed well and don't feel like jolts. Although this rig is bouncy and jittery in general, the KYBs make it feel and handle like a brand new rig even though I have 177k on the odometer. On the highway, there is less tire bounce and all that comes through is a smooth ride.I would recommend these to anyone and I am considering them for the rear axle of my Dually Crew Cab Pickup, which exhibits a tire bounce at about 45 mph with cheap shocks that are only a few years old.Turns out on the Daihatsu, the original shocks were KYB also, and these shocks fit exactly the same as the originals. I think this is about as close as you could get to the factory setup without trying to find NOS parts.
