The are was great for splitting wood. The hatchet, however was extremely dull. I sharpened it but I would have thought that it would have been sharp.

The full axe is heavier than I expected, but it works great. Both it and the hatchet's heads double as a wood splitter. Easy to grip, doesn't feel like it's slipping. I live in an extremely small town (170 people) so stores here are stupid expensive and just an axe alone here costs almost $80. I feel like I got a great deal with this duo. Here's to hoping I never need another axe again.

This review is a bit premature as I have not used the axe yet. After seeing other reviews though, I am now afraid to.So what is with the blade? You can tell someone used a single sided grinder on it. The blade is feathered over to one side on both axes. I have had to fix this with my own sharpening tools even before the first use. Then, out of curiosity, I checked on other reviews and I am now afraid to swing either the axe or hatchet.The connection between head and shaft is also very sketchy. Glue and grommet are not connected well and grommet is even torn and falling off on the hatchet. This is a pretty bad unboxing experience even before taking a swing with either tool.Weight distribution seems ok though. That isn’t what I thought I was paying for though.

Hands down the best axe I have ever used in my lifetime. The capability of this axe blows my cell deprived mind. The buttery slices this axe produces will make you wonder, will I ever need another axe? If I could I'd give it 6 out of 5 stars I wouldn't think twice about it

I have a few stumps I use the smaller axe on and some bigger tree rings from a felled tree I use the splitting axe on. You will probably need to invest in a file as these went full pretty quick (nothing particularly wrong with the axe, just something I noticed but I had pretty heavy use.)Overall this is an unbeatable combo for the price.Since Amazon wants me to address ergonomics.....it's an axe. It's not designed to be ergonomic or lightweight. If it were lightweight it wouldn't actually split logs. I'm not the world's strongest man but this tired memout after about 20-30 minutes of splitting. It's heavy!Also you may want to invest in some good gloves and watch a YouTube video on wood splitting form if you're unfamiliar so as to not injure yourself
