You all should get something like this to restrain your dogs in the back seat. Safety first. This keeps them in place for your drive without being distracted by your dogs jumping around. SIMPLE to use and high quality product. Dogs are like our babies and you wouldn't have your baby without a car seat, right? One impact 15 MPH and up and without some protection, your dog could easily fly through the windshield (trust me). Be safe y'all.

This is a very sturdy tether to keep my 140lb Great Dane from trying to get to the front of the car. We tether it to the seatbelt and then to his harness.

I bought the Kurgo seatbelt tether to go with the Kurgo harness. The tether is great and works with pretty much any harness, whereas the Kurgo harness has not been as useful.AppearanceThe tether looks as it does in the product photos. It is a simple loop and clip that attaches the seatbelt to the dog harness.Ease of useIt is very simple to use and attach. It will attach to most harnesses and it is short, meaning that the dog remains close to the seat belt, which is important for safety and allows the seat belt to take up any strain from sudden braking of the car.DurabilityI have had this a number of months and I have no concerns about it's durability. Admittedly, it is not used very often, but I cannot see whey it would not stand up to daily use.CompatibilityAs mentioned, I believe this will work with any combination of dog harness and car seat belt. I don't believe you need to buy a Kurgo harness. The Kurgo harness I bought is very fiddly to fit and it has been replaced with something much easier to use.ConclusionWhile I do not recommend the Kurgo harness, this simple tether does exactly what is needed.

My pup outgrew his initial travel kennel and I needed a way to restrain him to prevent his curiosity from taking him on a tour of everywhere in the vehicle that looked interesting to him.Although the tether may restrict your dog's access and provide some level of safety, keep in mind that this is NOT a CPS (Center for Pet Safety) crash-tested device and neither are 99% of harnesses. Your best option is an approved kennel, which isn't always available or realistic for many people due to cost, space limitations, or other factors. Kurgo's tether is by no means perfect, but it may be a viable alternative for some level of protection by keeping your dog restricted to a particular area while traveling. Be cognizant that it's unlikely to do much in the case of an actual accident. Also, please do NOT attach this to your dog's collar. This is unsafe and can do damage to your dog's trachea should it yank against their throat if/when the vehicle jerks and/or crashes.Regardless, the Kurgo tether appears made of heavy materials that are quality and durable. The carabiner's screw gate locks tight and does not unscrew over time. (I've had this happen on other products, so you're forced to constantly check that it's not loose. Not the case here.) The tether quickly and easily attaches to the seatbelt. It also theoretically attaches easily enough to the puppy's harness--if your puppy is not a squirmy demonspawn like mine.I have used this in both the front and back seats of my vehicle. For the front, I slid this around/through the lapbelt. Otherwise, there is too much slack using the seatbelt across the chest (regardless of locking position), and my pup was able to pull himself further away (and even off the seat at times) than he should be for a safety restraint. Pup was also able to twist himself up around the tether on a few occasions, which made it even more of a pain trying to remove the tether. But my puppy pest may be talented that way. For the back, which is the only place I use it now, I combine this w/ a seat hammock. The tether attaches to the seatbelt under the hammock and then slips through a slit at the bottom of the hammock. This restricts the tether's movement a tad more and also helps keep my pup from getting tangled up quite as much.Is this perfect? Absolutely not, but it's still a relatively decent product that has its place to keep your pup from free roaming the vehicle while you're driving, which is dangerous in and of itself. If you're looking for a crash-tested product that will protect your pup during a motor vehicle accident? Look elsewhere; this isn't it.

Bought this for my small lurcher as I couldn't find one for medium sized dogs that swivels. She always used to get tangled up in her previous seatbelt tether and do the lurcher scream of death which is far more distracting than having her loose in the car, so I thought I'd try this one. It does the job, she doesn't get so tangled in it and if she does it is easier to untangle her quickly (usually just pushing her head down and pulling the tether over her head). It feels very strong but the clip is MASSIVE, much bigger than I was expecting and slightly excessive for the size of our dog! I wish they did a smaller version. The clip swells up a bit when it gets hot (such as when it's been attached to the dog for a few hours in a row on a road trip in a warm car) but with a bit of wiggling it still works. My dog has been known to chew through seat belts in no time at all but the fabric of the tether is pretty tough so there's no mark after a few chews before I catch her and stop her.Overall very pleased and bought another one for our foster dog!

I was concerned about getting this tether for my 12lb maltipoo because I had read reviews saying it was not good for little dogs. It worked great! No need to worry. The size did not bother my little pup in the least (see photo). She's a bit nervous in the car and has a habit of spinning until she gets herself so knotted up, she can't move. This tether with the swivel feature made it so she could turn around as much as she wanted and not get twisted.I like that the carabiner is heavy duty and that it has a screw that locks into place so it can't accidentally open up. Other products I was looking at had carabiners that were so cheap they bent, or opened up accidentally.I also like that it is safety tested to a much higher impact weight than any others that I looked at and that it connected to the seatbelt. I almost bought another one that didn't have as high a weight impact rating, but it connected to the bar in the seat that you connect a child's carseat to. I read a review that the connecting piece didn't fit in the reviewer's make and model car, which happened to be the same car I own (Honda Odyssey). That made me leery of buying any tether that connected to the car that way.Another good thing about this tether is it worked well with my 12lb maltipoo, but it's also heavy duty enough to use for my 75lb golden retriever. We just got back from a 2000 mile road trip and this tether was a godsend!

Our puppy is a little tyke, weighing in at a whopping 8.23 pounds at last check. We had a lot of trouble driving around with him because he would wriggle himself all over the car when not strapped in, but many store bought harness systems were either way too big, or very restrictive because he didn't have the weight to move the restraints at all. This little device has been a great compromise. Unlike more involved doggy seats (many of which we have tried previously, but almost patently cannot get any of them to fit our car seats well at all), this just clips onto his harness we use for walking him, and the other end loops around the buckled in seatbelt... What this does is allow our dog to sit upright, so he can see what's going on, but to do so safely, without any risk of him being thrown by a short stop. Because it clips to the back of the harness and then attaches to the waist belt of the seatbelt, our dog can also easily lay down or reposition without getting caught up in excessive straps. It's really been a big help for one person car rides, and we switch it back and forth with ease between mine and my wife's cars, as it's really easy to put in/take out. THIS IS NOT SUITABLE for bigger dogs, as given the short length, I'd assume it would be highly restrictive, but it's great for our little guy. The product is well made, standing up to the "chew test" repeatedly with no damage so far. We just put a small doggy bed on the seat, clip him in and we're ready to go! Great product for keeping a little buddy safe as you ride, while allowing them some freedom to look around just as easily as they lay down. Highly recommend.
