We're about to travel and I'd normally bring a sling camera bag if I'm not also carrying a backpack, but this time I'm tasked with a backpack and still want to bring my mirrorless camera. I'm actually carrying two cameras, a Sony a6000 mirrorless for one of my kids to use and a Sony a7iii for myself. I do also have separate neoprene padded cases for both cameras, but I really need to try to transport the cameras and other items in a secure and organized method. This insert seems to do both and has more padding them my neoprene cases alone. With two cameras, it's a bit cramped and I need to transport my a7iii with the body down and my Tamron 28-200 lens facing straight up. But even with the lens and bodies in the bag, I'm still able to cinch the top closed. In this arrangement, I should be able to securely put down my bag, transport it, reach around to access it or have one of kids get the a6000 out without fumbling with the cover. The bag comes with 4 dividers in total, 2 full size and two smaller ones, but I only needed one this time around, maybe if I'm carrying only one camera, I can use another divider to add some protection on top.Carrying the bag and your gear by the cinch string seems like a bad idea, but that's just my opinion.

Great padding on all sides and kept my camera + lenses safe during plane rides and hotel transfers. I purchased this bag due to the adjustable inserts and I'm glad I did. Highly recommend this pouch.

I've been a semi-pro photographer for 20 years, during which time I've tried every carrying solution from shoulder brief-style bags to backpacks to slings. Being inspired by Galen Rowell's light-weight approach ("f8 and be there"), I found all of those solutions cumbersome and lacking. More so if I was traveling via plane and the camera bag took up one of my precious pieces of carry-on luggage. While living in Europe and traveling extensively over the past few years, I decided to drop the camera bag entirely. I use a North Face Recon for daily commuting and travel carry on (best rucksack ever), so one day I pulled some padding inserts from other bags and fashioned a padded tray that would sit at the bottom of the main pouch and carry my body + lens, an extra lens if needed, and a few accessories. It was perfect and I used it for years.I had to surrender the ad-hoc padding to my daughter recently so had to find a new solution. I was encouraged that enough other people seem to have come to the same conclusion and that several companies were selling similar solutions. I bought two other fancier solutions but they were too bulky and, frankly, I don't need too many features. This solution was perfect - fits exactly in the bag, is light colored to show up at the bottom of my backpack, and does just what I need it to do - adaptably and safely carry my gear at the bottom of my backpack.I have it configured to carry a Nikon D7100 + attached lens (either an 18-200 or 10-20) + a second lens (whichever isn't on the body). If I wanted to I could add a small third space to carry filters or extra batteries, but I just put those elsewhere in my backpack. I'm sure there's more extensive configurations, but I like simple. So far I'm very happy. I haven't taken it on a big trip yet, but it's worked well for local excursions. Highly recommended.

Very handy for storing multiple cameras or lenses inside my backpack. I fold down the cover to give easy access to them all.

This is exactly what I was looking for! I spent days and days researching camera bags and couldn't find what I was looking for at all. I'd spend hours and then think I found one and then one persons review would scare me away. I remember a long time ago a diaper bag I had purchased, a reviewer said they had turned it into a camera bag. That popped into my head and I found a great diaper bag on Clearance. It looks nothing like a diaper bag, PLUS like one person said on a blog, if you have a fancy camera bag that is obviously a camera bag, especially with the word NIKON plastered on the front, you're more likely to get it stolen. Who wants to steal diapers and stained baby clothes? Brilliant! So I searched for something like this and this is perfect! The diaper bag is great because it has tons of pockets for all of my camera accessories and then this camera bag shields it from bumps and scratches...not that scratches are really that possible inside the diaper bag. I was more looking for the padding aspect of it. This is especially awesome because it has a string to cinch it shut at the top, giving even more protection. That gives me a little bit more peace of mind because the diaper bag I'm using just has a magnetic closure, it doesn't buckle shut. As an added bonus of using a diaper bag plus this little beauty is that you can use the baby changing pad to set your camera and accessories on while you're getting things set up or put away without having to set your things on the ground or a dirty picnic table. I don't think I will ever purchase an actual camera bag!I'm also happy that this came in more colors than just black. I would have liked even more color options but the diaper bag that I bought is actually red inside so this matches damn near perfectly and it looks like it's part of the bag instead of something I just stuffed inside of there!
