I have a very bad back, and have suffered for years with lumbar disk issues. Sleep has always been a challenge for me, as getting into a comfortable position is virtually impossible. I frequently stay at my daughter's home, when she goes out of town, to watch kids and pets. While I love doing it, I do not love trying to sleep in her bed. Every time I go, I wish I had a good solution to making myself comfortable there. Her bed is of good quality, but not adjustable, so it is challenging. I usually end up with about 6 pillow, in different positions, and hope for the best. The minute I saw this item on Amazon, I knew it would be just what I needed. And it is! While there is a bit of a learning curve, to determine which position and set-up is best, it does come with a helpful card which shows many, many alternatives for how to use it. Best for me is the position shown on the post, which raises my head the most, and cradles my lumbar in just the right way. I love that the covers are all machine washable, a big plus. The velcro closures are of good quality. The only downside for me is that it is a pain to haul back and forth. There is no way to make it easily fit in any type of bag. But I will continue to use it every time, as I can actually get a decent night's sleep when using it. That is the highest recommendation I can give this item.

So I unpacked this vacuum-sealed wedge pillow and immediately noticed its beautifully soft and well-constructed design. Not feeling particularly tired but just motivated to review the product, I placed it on my bed and I lay it upon it during the afternoon and two hours later woke up surprised that I had slept and fully refreshed. This pillow was so blissfully comfortable, but I couldn't help myself but fall asleep with it. I rarely take naps, but this back and side sleeper was no match for this supremely comfortable pillow.I'm about 5 foot 6 with more height in my torso than my legs, and this pillow fits me just perfectly. The peak of the wedge was perfectly positioned with my inner knee, and my feet came to rest at the back of the wedge pillow on the mattress while my butt rested adjacent to its front-side base. I suspect that people with much longer legs than I have might find this to be a little bit short for them. But if you feel that it might fit you, it's really quite wonderful.The pillow was modestly packaged in vacuum-sealed plastic, and I anticipated the need to air it out once I opened it due to the typical smell associated with such foam pillows. But I experienced no such smell whatsoever, and I have a relatively sensitive nose to such things. The instructions suggest that this might have a "pungent smell" and might require an airing out and time for the foam to fully bounce back from the packaging. The instructions suggest this delay might last 24 to 48 hours, but for me, within mere minutes, it was fully operational, and it never had any odor of any sort. (There is an indication here on the packaging that this might be the circumstances one experiences in the warmer shipping months of summer, so perhaps I didn't experience that because it's wintertime now even though it's 55° where I am.)Now, as I try to make up for the two hours lost from my unforeseen nap that I blame entirely on this pillow, all I can think about is getting back into bed with this blissful pillow.UPDATE: since that fateful nap, I have attempted to sleep with it twice, and both times, I noticed that I kicked it away from me after a short order. In other words, for me, this is perfect for naps, but for sleeping overnight, I don't use it. Additionally, I've been having some back pain, and this pillow gets me into a pretty good position to stabilize my lower back... But not the ideal position for one's back. The ideal position is where your knees are up put your shins are parallel to the mattress and this pyramid shape doesn't allow that.A few weeks later: I am tempted to down grade to 4 stars ... for reasons (perhaps related to slightly imperfect comfort) I am not really as comfortable as I was those first days. I find it actually a bit uncomfortable and so use it sporadically ... less so than I had hoped. NOTE: This is not a design flaw or production flaw... just a personal issue with the pillow.I hope this helps.

I grabbed this pillow set for a few reasons, from watching occasional TV/movies to reading, and potentially for sleeping.Upon arrival, I was aware that it would require some decompression time due to compressing in the packaging, so I was not surprised, and the stated 48 hours was very close.The first trial run was to see how they would work propping me up while watching a movie from bed. I was asleep in 15 minutes. The TV woke me up, so I turned it off and then had a most excellent night of sleep. Ok, maybe not the best for movies, but check the box for sleep improvement. I learned recently that I have a bit of apnea, and this pillow set worked to reduce the effects.The second(?) test was reading reconfiguring a bit, I also added another memory foam pillow that allowed me to rotate to a comfortable angle so that I didn't have to hold the book up. This worked great (and I did stay awake!).When I tried again for movie mode, I stood it up more like a chair back against the headboard, and bingo! This worked very well and greatly increased my comfort without putting me to sleep.The build quality is excellent and the comfort is a little stiff at first, but that's to be expected. Memory foam has to break in a bit and "learn" to fit you. The washable covers make it easy to keep things clean, so that's a bonus.My only issue is that I would prefer the pillows to be wider for use while sleeping, but that's only a minor thing.I see that some versions of this set are now unavailable. I hope it sticks around, as I would like another.Highly recommended!
