Easy to get off with the nut on the front. So much easier than trying to use a filter wrench. Great idea.

These are hard to find. Used to be cheaper but still cheaper than auto parts stores. Love how the box is taped and the filter has a wrapping to avoid contamination inside. Also handy that it has the option to remove with a wrench but I just hand tightened. I used WIX before but those are longer. Perfect fit

Easy to install. 1st make sure the engine has COOLED down. Remove old filter. Hand tighten new filter. Then use a wrench with correct socket and tighten the new filter. Add oil. To remove a K&N filter. Let engine cool down. Take one wrench, one extension, one socket and a oil pan. (Collect the used oil to recycle). Could not be easier. To avoid spilling the used oil, loosen the filter enough so you can turn the filter by hand. Take a couple of plastic bags from Walmart, Grocery stores etc. Cover you hand, wrist and arm with the double bags and then start to unscrew the filter. Once you have the filter removed and still in the bag turn it upside down and allow the oil to drain into the oil pan to recycle. Then Recycle.

Great filter - even better with the removal nut. Why don't more companies do this on oil filters. My factory installed filter on my 2013 Yamaha Nytro XTX was installed so tightly that it shredded when I removed it when an oil filter wrench. I then had to hammer it off as I couldn't get enough leverage on the OEM filter to remove it. This caused me to nick my engine block. . . absolutely ridiculous on a new machine!I have literally performed hundreds of oil changes and never had this problem in the past. See the picture for what this filter helps you to avoid. Please note, you should only HAND TIGHTEN your filter thereby eliminating the need for this type of filter - but in my case, I did not install the old filter. . .the factory did. I bought this filter for insurance on my snowmobile for future oil changes.

I'm not sure if this applies to all Yamaha Phazers, but I had to unbolt (4 cap screws) the engine oil cooler (leave the oil lines on), and move it out of the way with one hand, while I maneuvered the oil filter past the frame and the spot where the oil cooler would have been with the other hand. The reason for this, on my sled, was that the "nut" welded on the end of the oil filter made the filter too long to slip past the frame and the engine. I could not see, or find, any other way to get it on there. After that, the filter seems to be doing it's job. Next time I will probably go with an OEM filter, because the OEM filter just barely squeaks past the engine and frame.Do yourself a favor, get some high quality, metric allen wrenches, and/or allen wrenches that fit on the end of a socket wrench handle. The job will go much smoother and faster. I wound up pulling all the plastics off of the front end, the headlight assembly, airbox, etc. to get at the oil filter.Last, but not least, have a backup plan for when the oil filter will not come off using your hand. The assembly man at the factory has a sick sense of humor...that bugger is on there tight! I used a large set of Channel-Lock type pliers. Yet another reason to get the engine oil cooler out of the way. Good luck!
