I'm rating this product with 5 stars not just because it looks and sounds great on my Subaru Impreza Wrx. I'm doing it, because it was a very simple purchase, fast, easy to install and with a good price(got it on sale). Overall, great product, great service. Not any cons to think about.

I bought this kit because it had good reviews across the forums. It is unbelievably simple to install, it took about an hour. I don't know if it added HP, but the sound of the turbo spooling up and the whoosh of the BOV are worth it. i had a cramp in my face from smiling after driving it the first time! If you have a WRX, buy this intake kit. I believe it has a better heatshield than the SOA intake on amazon. Also, regardless of what the forums and the item descriptions state, subaru says the air filter on that intake should be replaced at a regular interval. At nearly $50 a pop, I'd rather get one that I know can be reused.I also read a lot about these short ram intakes sucking hot air into the engine. So, I used my Cobb APV3 to monitor and log intake temps for about 2 weeks with the stock intake before I replaced it. Granted, it is still winter here, but if you drive until the engine warms to 190F, and you sit in traffic or idle, REGARDLESS of the air temp outside, the intake air gets HOT, quick. Once you start moving, it takes time for the hot intake air temps to cool off close to ambient. I will have to analyze the data I logged, but at first glance, I cannot tell any difference in intake air temps when sitting still and idling- both the short ram and the stock intake suck in hot air. Both appear to cool off once you start rolling and get fresh air flowing again. You still use the stock intake snorkel system with the K&N intake. The only difference is the pipe coming out of the fenderwell doesn't seal into a sealed box containing the air filter as with the stock system. So when you are rolling, you are allowing fresh air to come through the stock snorkel system and it dumps that air right at the end of the cone filter on the K&N system. So, it is getting fresh, cool air when you are moving. Some folks like the challenge of a debate, but i have seen for myself on my car there does not appear to be much if any difference in intake air temps between the stock box and the K&N system. There is, however, a tremendous difference in the awesome sound from the K&N. If you are not a performance nut, or you share your ride with a driver who isn't you might get annoyed by the sound. I have a 3" high-flow cat TBE system with a rumbly exhaust note. At WOT the exhaust note cancels out the intake sound, but cruising around town I find myself blipping the throttle every now and then just to hear her rip and snort. Do yourself a favor, get off the fence, get in your emergency savings fund or your kid's college fund and buy this; you will be happy.

I replaced my spark plugs and installed this kit today. Overall I am really pleased. Sounds great, seems to run smoother, and no dead spots in the rpm. No tuning required for my 03 WRX. Overall I was impressed with the quality of the parts and the ease of instillation. I recommend this product.

This baby not only puts more pep in the step it also made my beloved 2003 WRX sound like the serious machine it has always been..a 15 pony increase in power in no little thing but the deep sound emitting from under it's yellow hood is just pure fun. *smile*It's a tight fit and I was glad I had an expert around to help with the installation but it's worth every skinned knuckle.***I highly recommend this to other Subie enthusiasts who want to make and nice little upgrade in performance but don't want spend a lot of coin or mess around with something which might cause harm to the vehicle.

I have 2005 Subaru WRX. It was fairly easy to install, there where a few steps like stretching the wiring for the O2 sensor around the heat shield that where fun. I felt more power but had holes in my power band at 4th gear, the check engine light came on. Later I found out what the problem was, it was the O2 sensor. When you change the size, amount, and flux in the air flow it throws the samples the sensor takes out of wack. Usaully you end up burning lean, too much air not enough fuel. I bought Cobb's CPU remapper (AccessPORT) and retuned the computer and everything runs great now. The heat shield is a nice touch and does keep the air flow cooler. The filter itself comes off easy for cleaning. It is sold and fairly easy to install and you get what you are inspecting. If you have a turbo you may need to turn your cpu.

Was expecting the extra hiss, but not the added grumble... not sure if now I need to upgrade the exhaust system.

This was easy to install. I hate working on my car for fear I will screw something up. I installed this in a fairly short amount of time. I had no troubles and everything fit like it should. It sounds cool. If you want to hear your turbo this will get the job done. My car is an '06 STi. I can hear the turbo whistle and flutter and I can hear the stock compressor bypass when I let off.I cannot feel any HP difference, but passing on the highway has never been so much fun.
